Hi there, a quick update from Tracfone.
We have an updated unlocking policy. You can check it here http://tf-w.co/NZyp2bR

Long time users like we are need to reframe the way we think about TF until some time has passed and we know how VZ is going to change things (you know they will). New unlock policy looks like a good start, hopefully it continues. I'm just trying to be careful to tell others that there's no guarantee things will work the same way they used to under the old TF, don't want people to be disappointed.
Probably wise to skip some of these TF deals until you know how they'll treat existing customers. Especially those that have service until 2030 anyhow. By then TF might not even exist anymore.

My friends and family wants me to always find them their better deals and I basically was buying for them which makes everyone of them new customers! They don't want 30 sales, let them keep them!👎💅🥣
(For the past few years all bundled Tracfones have been Verizon as well)
Recent reviews from the last few months are extremely negative.

Device Pulse came installed on a phone I bought about 6 months ago. I just turned it on (planning to activate it) and started going through all the apps and disabling many, and restricting permissions on most (a process I go through with each new Tracfone). I discovered Device Pulse and came across the reviews at the link above as I tried to understand what it is, and whether it can be disable or removed (it cannot).
I've managed to keep it off of 2 older phones (many in the reviews are complaining that it got installed without their permission, on phones that didn't originally have it). I have security extremely tight on them and I don't allow and updates - which can be extremely risky unless you really only use your phone as a phone. That's what I do - my phone is a phone only, and I don't enter any sensitive info into browsers (which I use extremely rarely).

As I don't use my phone for much else than a phone, I'm not paranoid about using the Tracfones I have until I've used the minutes on them.
But this example is a reason why I've NEVER used a cell phone for much other than basic phone functions .... because they're horribly insecure.
I wonder if I can use BitDefender to block Device Pulse? Probably not worth the time to figure out.

I always shake my head when I read TF complaints on HSN.
