I'm pretty sure that device can be swapped once activated and the plan itself costs around $40 on sale. I have similar set up for my kid as emergency while he's in school. Doesn't spoil them with unlimited data and not fancy enough to play games or show off so he can stay focused on learning lol.

If it's not registered there's no way for system to know. All that sim will do is unlock the phone it was activated in - if it's the original sim. If it's from a BYOP $1 sim kit or it's one of the cheap preloaded sims they sell on the TF eBay store it won't ever unlock anything, those are meant for already unlocked phones.
This isn't the fault of Tracfone, it's always worked this way.
Someone just gave you bad info.

In order to get the service plan you need to activate & get a phone number (it is not preactivated)

I just got the bundle in the mail today.

I got a phone box, no mention on the box that it includes the 1500 min/text/data deal at all.

I also got the case and car charger.

I didn't get a sim card or any paperwork saying I have been given the 1500 min/text/data. Did everyone else get the same things? How will tracfone know I am supposed to get 1500 min/text/data? How does this process work? New to tracfone, thanks.

you activate the phone & plan is added, TF stopped using separate activation cards several years ago because people were selling them.

Thanks, so much for the quick response. I love this forum. Saved me being on hold with CS and them probably not even know anyway.

I also remember hearing in the past it's good to do something before activating to get bonus minutes. Like some kind of tracfone promo... (not talking about the HSN2022 when making the order, already did that) I can't find what that is yet, do you happen to know? I have a recently expired tracfone account that maybe ended a few days ago.

Doubt if your account expired, just your current phone line. just go to tracfone rewards, plenty of info

Thanks, I have a Verizon TF that was activated over 365 days ago, but using the ebay new sim cards & transferred balance over, so it didn't qualify for unlocking (& probably never will as long as I activate new ebay 1 yr sim cards & transfer balances). I was just hoping to be able to use TF Verizon AND AT&T sim cards on it without having to unlock.

Self referrals are not allowed in any program, including TracFone. There are also reports of TracFone cracking down on this. But it is still technically possible. My post had nothing to do with self referral, as you can get a 'legit' referral (just not on SlickDeals, as they don't allow it here) and still get 8000 points on the new line (it would be best to sign up for a new TracFone account and rewards).

If your previous line is expired, the rewards account with that account also expires shortly after the service did.

open up the compartment (using the little metal paper clip type tool) that holds the sim and sd cards and you'll find the sim card pre-installed

No longer same policies as before since Tracfone sold all their brands to Verizon Nov 23.
It might be OK but I don't know if Verizon has put a time limit on the old TF bundle activations.
I personally don't recommend waiting that long, HSN only has 30 day return if there's a problem.

I just got the phone today. There's nothing in the box, no paperwork, etc. that mentions the 1500/min/text/data. There's no SIM card or anything. It's a box with the phone and also a separate bundled case and car charger. How will they know I am supposed to get 1500 min/text/data? Anyone know what to do with this? Is it missing something?
