Old man complaint but they just dont make these to last anymore. I had the high end GE and it lasted less time than my cheap one. So now I I get the largest cheap one and just expect to replace every 4 to 5 years. Good price though
It's annoying that they make the washer 2/3 the capacity of the dryer. What good does that do unless you wash more than one load and then dry them at one time.

I know what you mean, I bought my old fashioned pair 18 years ago and they still are going strong. My father bought new expensive HE washer and dryer 5 years ago and they have been one big problem after another. I'll keep my old ones until they finally get tired and just quit.
My old Norge washer from 1990 just lost it's transmission and I could not replace the parts. Brought a new Whirlpool from Costco with a removable agitator. I hope this one lasts as long as my old one did, but I won't make any bets on that. My old matching Norge dryer is still running strong. Just did a tune up and she's back to work.

Technically it's matched. You need some decent air space in a fully loaded dryer to get the load dry.

idk. im on my cabrio whirlpool now, 6 years? hasn't had a hiccup, except that it was making a whistle during hot option, I ordered the little water thingy that goes under the control panel for 30 bucks and replaced it, no issues. I snipped the speaker while I was at it, hated hearing music and noises to start a load.

Same thing from my appliance guy! That why I am replacing my crappy 3 year old Samsung washer with a whirlpool that I bought last year during the best buy open box deal....still haven't switched it yet because it is a bit of a project since laundry room currently has stacked setup and I need to rerun venting etc.
The samsung dryer had a warranty repair at 12 months and I am about to do my 2nd tune-up to it.... 3 repairs in 3 years!
Waiting for a dryer deal to pop up here.... This one isn't quite slick enough for me 😂

I have heard from many appliance techs that the older machines were built to last. They claim that the more features the machines have, the more likely they are to break. All you need for it to do is wash the clothes/dry the clothes. If at all possible get the version the laundromats work (cannot remember the brand). They are ugly to look at and very simplified but will last for much longer than most of the brands available.

Whirlpool makes other brands like KitchenAid, Maytag, Amana, and Jenn-Air, just FYI for people. I also have several of these brands in my house including Maytag washer and dryer
I will never buy a GE HE washer again, trouble spinning clothes after a couple of years, replaced several parts including suspension rods and now theres a thread online about a software fix for this.....WT HECK...when does software help spin clothes......GE never never again
