I got this email from Kaiser today -

Kaiser Permanente to cover cost of COVID-19 rapid antigen home tests
Following guidance from the Biden administration, Kaiser Permanente will now reimburse members for FDA-approved rapid antigen home tests. Submit a reimbursement claim here for tests purchased on or after January 15, 2022.

I think reimbursements are capped at $12 per test. Anyone know if a multipack (like this or Binax) will be counted separately or as a single unit?

Check your insurance if they do the same

Each test inside the multipack is counted separately for purposes of reimbursement. It can also optionally be counted separately for the purposes of limiting purchases to 8 tests per person per month.

See footnotes 15 and 16 on: https://www.dol.gov/sites/dolgov/...art-51.pdf

Quote :
15) The Departments recognize that some OTC COVID-19 tests are sold in packages containing more than one test. If a plan or issuer limits reimbursement for OTC COVID-19 tests from non-preferred sellers, pharmacies, or retailers to $12 per test, as allowed under Q2, the plan or issuer must calculate the reimbursement based on the number of tests in a package. 16) The Departments recognize that some OTC COVID-19 tests are sold in packages containing more than one test. In applying the quantity limit of 8, plans and issuers may count each test separately, even if multiple tests are sold in one package

Umm I didn't have symptoms and tested positive. I only took test because my daughter tested positive.

The private insurance re-imbursement is 8 tests/person/month at $12 max per test. It may be better to get this instead of the free ones from the government so that people without insurance can avail of that.
Aetna's website says it's per test in a multi-pack each so this 5-pack will count as 5 tests.

Great to see that 90% of the discussion here is irrelevant and not about the deal.

Is this a good price per test?
Are at home tests mostly sold out right now?
Are these tests accurate and considered "good" for an at home test?
Anyone know the expiration date? Is it a month, 6 months, a year?

Thanks!

Anthem had no idea how to reimburse and basically told me to wait till the 19th to get it free from the Gov. ... which is illegal (in that they wouldn't reimburse) but idk even know where/who to complain to.

They had a form that had a tax id and a provider and i said (and they said in their copy/paste) that you don't need a provider to order it... and they basically went in circles again. ... sucks

I second this. If you have the ability to pay, then please pay. May a time never come in anyone's life when they need a handout. But sadly life sometimes has other plans. Let's be considerate for the ones on which fortune has turned their back
