There are some concerning reviews which report their tests were expired by two months upon delivery

In the US at home Covid tests will be free. For the reimbursements they start Jan 15 but who knows if the websites will work.

Today is January 15.

I'm not sure there are clear procedures in place yet though

EDIT: This specific test is NOT a multipack (it's a 1 pack). The information below applies to multipacks like the FlowFlex through Costco, iHealth Labs 2-pack, or BinaxNow 2-pack.

Each test inside the multipack is counted separately for reimbursement. If there is a preferred network of COVID-19 OTC test retailers, then the limit of reimbursement for each 2-pack is $24.

As the OP said, each test inside the multipack can also be counted separately for limiting purchases to 8 tests per plan member per month. So each person can be limited to 4x 2-packs, for example, if the insurance chooses to count that as 8 against the quantity limit of 8.

See footnotes 15 and 16 on: https://www.dol.gov/sites/dolgov/...art-51.pdf

Quote :
15) The Departments recognize that some OTC COVID-19 tests are sold in packages containing more than one test. If a plan or issuer limits reimbursement for OTC COVID-19 tests from non-preferred sellers, pharmacies, or retailers to $12 per test, as allowed under Q2, the plan or issuer must calculate the reimbursement based on the number of tests in a package.

16) The Departments recognize that some OTC COVID-19 tests are sold in packages containing more than one test. In applying the quantity limit of 8, plans and issuers may count each test separately, even if multiple tests are sold in one package

This is not a multipack however, it's a single test of which I ordered 2 orders of 4 for a total of 8

I have used one of these. It was negative. But pretty simple procedure. Different than the more popular binaxnow test. Read the instructions well.

Seems odd CVS won't accept returns even if they send you recalled or expired tests. Seems like they're just trying to get rid of their stock knowing people can get reimbursed by insurance.

My guess is they are trying to discourage people from buying/stockpiling these now with the intention of returning them in a month if they end up not needing them once Omicron dies down.

Pharmacies have never been good at accepting returns. Though if they pulled that for an expired test, I'd think a chargeback would be in order.
Edit: I'd have to believe that your state board of pharmacy would take unkindly to that, as well.
