Personally I am waiting for refurbished models to come onto the market, I have had very good luck with the Best Buy refurbished and Amazon refurbished MacBooks, and usually you can pick them up for nearly $1000 off at the right time within a year of release. But if you need it now then I guess go ahead.

It's a one year warranty. You only get a 2nd year if you're buying w the Costco credit card.

That being said, this is still a good deal. I only wish it were available in 32 gb without having to customize it.

Costco warranty adds another year to the manufacturer warranty. If you used Costco Citi card, you get additional 2-years on top of that.

When M1 MacBooks first came out in Nov 2020, refurbs started coming around Feb 2021. These M1 Pro/Max devices announced end of October 2021 which would put refurbs by end of Jan 2022 following the same timeline. I wouldn't hold my breath for that to happen with all the shortages/supply strain. This is all in regards for devices directly from apple, not sure of the timeline for third party refurbs from BB or AMZN

Yes, precisely. And from what I understand, the 2-year extra warranty through Costco Citi card applies to any purchase (even outside of Costco), as that is included as one of the Citi card benefits. Someone correct me if that's not the case.

I just tried to use this service for the first time for a smart lock with a keypad that stopped working. I submitted my receipt online and explained that I did not have the requested documentation from a licensed repair technician because I do not know that exists. They promise a reply within 14 days. A week later they sent me a form email which didn't reference my note or what I had submitted and simply asked for everything again and promised a response within 14 days after receiving all the documents. I have given up and will return the product to Costco. It may be possible and worth using this service to cover a laptop. I don't think the service is real or beneficial for anything small.
