$2/pc seems like a great price on some fairly elegant dishware. Bright white and slightly translucent as you would expect from bone china. Not the most uniform, one of the plates came with some rough spots around the bottom rim. For $5-$10 a piece I'd be disappointed but at this price, I'm not concerned. Sanded it down with the dremel in under a minute. 24 bowls of various sizes and 16 plates, the wide pasta bowls in particular are a favorite.

Microwave and dishwasher safe according to the bottom.

Never, because they are smart enough to cover their shipping expense in the online price. They want you in the warehouse anyway, why else do you think they started their own chicken farms to keep the cooked chickens at $5 laugh out loud

I'm a sauce fiend, so the "fruit bowls" mostly end up half full of myriad sauces. The salad plates serve more as large saucers and the pasta bowls end up doing salad duty.

It boils down to the fact that a generously sized bowl can stand in for a plate, but a plate can't hold it's liquid...and I already have double walled glasses for coffee/tea service.

Can't speak to the durability, haven't engaged in destructive testing (yet), but bone china is generally tougher than it looks at first glance.

Have the previous bone china set offered at Costco from Mikasa. Highly recommend to anyone looking for some really nice dishware (or honestly, even their first set, as reasonably priced as this set is). The bone china is very thin and light, but incredibly strong. It is very break resistant. My family with young children have had probably 3 or 4 bowl drops on tile floor and have only lost one piece.

For those who care, bone china is called that because it uses bone ash. Vegetarians and vegans you are forewarned

I would totally buy this if I didn't get another mikasa set that was from Costco 2 years ago. I can't speak to this specific set but the set I have from Mikasa 2 years ago is still holding up really well. No chip and stains
