Lots of these are flaky. I bought a decently reviewed Topeak mini and it was unreliable, had thermal problems etc. Some of the software vendors have tweaks to try to compensate for poor protocol implementations, and some identify more and less reliable versions on their website. Dr Prius is one example, and I had good luck with their suggestions http://priusapp.com/obd.html including a different Topeak model. Some only work with proprietary software. Android only is very common in cheap Bluetooth devices, so beware. The wifi models haven't been good for me and tend to be battery hungry. Many of these can run down your battery if left plugged in, so watch out for that. There are now decently priced models that work with iOS Bluetooth, so I think it's worthwhile to pay an extra fifteen bucks so I don't have to throw the device away, or have it fail when I was buying a used car. That sucked. Then I threw it away.
I bought the OP one to find the faulty battery cell. OBD works just fine. But I plugged in connected to my phone, forgot to close the opened doors for two days, the 12v is dead. I have to charge for 6 hours to get it full charge. I thought the current it can draw for BT is little but it could be opened doors or BT range or low 12v charge, but battery was dead.

On side note have you used Dr.Prius?

Which Honda do u have?, share a bit more of model, year and problem that u are having and I might guide u in the right direction...some models with VCM will make the transmission to shudder when VCM get triggered, a VCM Muzzler will disable VCM therefore the shudder should disappear. The NT510 should be enough if the tranny is throwing u any code.

'14 crv. At ~30k started shaking on gentle acceleration at 20-25mph speed. Sometimes really bad and sometimes nothing at all. We thought it was mostly when cold so i left at dealer over night then came early am and we drove with tech. Tech felt it, connected to pc scanner. Nothing came up. Dealer offered to reflash trans twice. I refused to pay for warranty service. I read reflashing fixes the shudder for a year but then it comes back. Proper way to do it is to replace the torque converter. I've been fighting with honda for years. They refuse to do anything. I'm not touching the car either. I have to sue honda but dealer says i need to do diagnostic first. Whatever code comes up, if anything, then that's what dealer will do. If no error codes, like before, dealer can't do anything. It's been over 3 years the shudder is still there but it's not so bad now and only felt at near 30mph on gentle acceleration. Regardless of time of day or temperature. I can't make a case unless some code comes up and even then honda will say it's not a honda authorized certified scanner bullshit so i'm on my own. Need to make a decision. Around 57k miles.

Got it, there a few things in the honda forum that people do. But we are talking about a complete different engine and tranny. Best advice if u haven't done it, reach out to the crv community. https://www.crvownersclub.com/

For the Odyssey there is a great community at Odyclub. I know there are quite a few with CRV in the group as well and sometimes they make reference to that crv forum. Take a look at it and check some of the threats.
