All FIre HD8's are only 4 cores and not very fast. These are the tabelts that make you bald cause it makes you pull out your hair.

I use to be a HUGE Fire HD10 fanboy but Lenovo 10e has changed my mind.

Lenovo 10e is on sale for $99. It has the identical CPU/GPU as the Fire HD10, it has 4GB of ram but only has a 32 GB harddrive with no micro SD slot,

Lenovo 10e is a Chromebook tablet.
Benefits:
1. Chrome OS but it also has the play store and can play everything the Fire HD10 can play.
2. Zero Bloatware (Chromebook)
3. Full Windows Chrome; that means you can apply addons. Chrome for Android is a butchered Chrome. There are huge advantages to have the full Windows Chrome.
4. Updates twice as long and Chrome OS is considered much more secure then Android. Also updates come from Google.
5. Chromebooks have USB-C to HDMI out. So you can use this tablet as a desk top. Fire tablets have no UCB-C to HDMI
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n...Srk&t=156s
6. Chromebooks can run Linux apps. (for example, call of duty no longer plays on a 32bit Android OS, both the Fire HD10 and the Lenovo 10e run Android 9 32bit OS but you can install Call of Duty on the Chromebook through Linux).

Disadvantages compared to Fire HD10.
1. Fire HD10 has better screen. It is brighter 440 nits vs 400 nits. Besides the brightness, there is not much of a difference, both screen are very good.
2. Fire HD10 has better speakers
3. Fire HD10 has a Micro SD slot
4. Fire HD10+ has wireless charging

Other considerations....
If you get the Lenovo 10e, realize that Chrome is a much bigger program and websites may not refresh as fast. You can always download Brave or Valvaldi web browsers and then surfing should be equal.

Fire HD10 has widevine Level 1 support, so you can stream in HD. Lenovo 10e has widevine level one support attached the the Chrome App only. So with the Lenovo, you want to go to www.netflix.com [netflix.com] and not use the app unless you want to download a movie or show to watch on a plane.

To many people use XDA Amazon Tool Box and never update their OS and they put themselves at risk. A Chromebook is more secure then the mac book pro.

The main reason why I recommend the 10e vs the Fire HD10 is because:
1. Zero Bloatware
2. Google updates the OS until June 2028.
3. Identical performance.

Reasons to get the Fire HD10
1. You need to use a Micro SD card (even though you can add a UCB-C hub to the Lenovo 10e)
2. You want 64GB of hard drive space.
3. Slightly better screen and speakers.
4. You need to burn a 20% off coupon.

Per Google, no Chromebook is allowed a GPS, I don't know why... maybe someone knows? I believe the fire hd10 also has no GPS.

Both tablets Fire HD10 and Lenovo 10e are good tablets. These r considered budget tablets. The next generation, Samsung Tab A8 has the Tiger T618. I bet the next generation fire will have this cpu.

Here is a comparison of the MT8183 VS T618, can't get the link working?

In for a Fire HD 8 Plus.

Supposely, retroarch still works and may be relatively easy to use and install the google play store to play Gamepass Ultimate on it.

Fire toolbox worked PERFECTLY today on a tablet bought in (and unopened since) October. Parts of it won't work if you update past a certain firmware.

Kinda funny that this deal came up now. I got the HSN Fire HD 10 (2021 model) 2-pack back in October for $150. Came with vouchers for Caseable cases for them, and app vouchers (don't care about the app vouchers, kinda trash). The reason I find it interesting is that I am quite literally at this moment taking a break from using Fire Toolbox on them, since I never even opened them. Going to use them for the same as you, media consumption, as well as (more media) PDF's of books and graphic novels I have.
I got a $15 case for it so we effectively got the same deal. I also kept putting off setting it up for a while, but am glad that I finally got to it. Btw, in case you didn't notice it, with the front camera on the left, with most cases it ends up on the bottom, which makes for awkward video chats. I specifically got an "upside down" case that puts the camera on the top. But in portrait mode the buttons and jack are on the bottom, which is a bit weird but you get used to it.

Yes, it is available on the play store.

Anything the firetablet can play the Lenovo 10e can play, they both have the play store.

But the Lenovo 10e also has access to thousands and thousands of Linux apps. Personally I don't know much about Linux.

Can you please provide some more info? Did Amazon block it? Only the newest model?
A couple of weeks ago I used it on some ~$60 HD 10 kids' editions that I got and it worked fine for me. I was not interested in using a "custom launcher" which is apparently what update 7.2.2.whatever now blocks.

If you are interested in this, you must follow the instructions before connecting you tablet to wifi on how to block this update.

if y'all are referring to Amazon and trade in, the coupon that they provide after trade in is not guaranteed to be frontloaded. That is, sometimes (depending on account) they want to receive your trade in first before applying the coupon to your account. Sucks

Anyone considering a 10" tablet for a child, just don't. All that extra glass to break, and it's overkill. If you are torn between larger size and a plus model, go with plus model. Kids benefit from wireless charging more than extra screen size, at least in our case. That said, I didn't do extensive research but it looks like the "pro" models do not have extra ram or wireless charging?

And this does not get rid of the TON of bloatware that Amazon puts on your fire tablet and you still get hit with advertisements. Again, you might as well get the Lenovo 10e, it has ZERO bloatware, no adds and it comes with the play store app already installed. And it is the exact same horsepower as the Fire HD10+.

definitely worth considering if you don't know what you are getting into with a fire tablet. If I wasn't interested in the whole "kids" thing, didn't care about expandable storage, and was for some reason stuck on having a 10" tablet then I would totally agree.
Actually, I wouldn't even consider a tablet for the kids if they didn't make these things so stupidly cheap, so y'all might better not listen to me!
