Was at my local Home Depot today and saw this Honda lawnmower on clearance. Decided to post it here because I almost never see Honda lawnmowers on sale or clearance. Regular price is $700 and it was in clearance for $524. They had a few here at home depot largo, FL.
Highly recommended. I have a Honda that's slightly less feature rich than this one and it's been bulletproof for the past 8 years. Still starts in the first pull, every time.

It probably didn't have a Honda engine. Folks gladly pay double for a mower so equipped. Never mind that Briggs & Stratton engines are just as reliable, at least with a little maintenance. I've had B&S powered mowers start first pull over 10 years. It's a brand allegiance thing.
it most definitely had a B&S engine. still running today!

My B&S engines always outlast the mower (and start on first pull). Last was 15 years old and the deck finally rusted in half. Engine still ran good, so I sold it. And I rarely do the regular maintenance that I should. I do have a Husqvarna mower with a Honda engine that always takes about 3 pulls.
I had an HRX217, looks almost identical to this model. It was nice but overall was not a good fit for my lawn. It is heavy and hard to maneuver compared to my old TroyBilt TB240. My lawn has lots of tight spaces and curves and not many long straights. I'm sure the Honda would be great for a large lawn, but I was so much happier when I went back to the TroyBilt that I could throw around and flip back and forth so easy.
The Honda mulching settings were great though and I wish I had them this fall for picking up leaves. That is really the only thing I miss with it.
the last lawnmower i purchased was under $50 from a small engine repair shop.
I get you. Like this is a good price for a lawnmower in 2022? Original Price is $700. I better be able to ride it if I'm paying more than a hundred.....

The rear axle has plastic bushings that tend to rust and seize up. This adds a lot of stress on the transmission eventually overheating it.
I had the same problem and so did my neighbor with the ones from Home Depot.
I finally looked on YouTube and found a fix – require grinding a bit of material off of the axle so the bushing would fit loosely. Been fine since
