I've have Mint on 2 lines, 4Gig plans, for exactly a year... I've had my phone Hotspot on and connected to multiple devices (laptops, tablets, cars, etc) without issue.

How are you monitoring the 'at home' data usage? I'm not looked really but I'd be surprised if it is using anything when you are on any (home or not) Wifi network.

Wow that is bad. I am getting this for my wife. I want stability in terms of data. You think I should just sign up with Mint Mobile (T-Mobile) instead?
No. Probably buy monthly one first and check speeds then buy yearly plan and port your number.

I've had the opposite experience. I moved to RP from AT&T post paid. I literally just tested after reading your post…with 2 bars on RP-ATT, I'm getting 55MBps down. I've seen it in the 60s when I have a stronger signal - but I would say it likely depends on your area and the way ATT mvno's are prioritized there? Before buying red pocket, I bought cheap starter sims for mvno's of all the networks to test them around our area with speed tests…and att had the fastest speeds/best signal in the areas around our home, though it doesn't make a ton of sense why att prepaid would be that much better

No it's not area. They did something and for momentarily it gave 5 g speed. Then when I restarted my mobile it went back to 3g speed. It's not a problem with mobile also bcos I could get good speed with their other verizon sim.
I am chatting with them and they are not willing to change my GSM sim to CDMA also. Be careful when you commit to yearly plan.

My iPhone switches to wifi calling as soon I walk in the door. I've never tried tethering.

I have a question. I am currently on Mint Mobile and my plan doesn't end until July. Could I hold onto my SIM kit after buying this and activate at a later time while getting my Mint Mobile number ported to Red Pocket? Thanks.

i bought similar deal on ebay earlier and it said must activate with 90 days of purchase. I did wait for a month before activating. This deal keep coming . This is 3rd time in 6 months i am seeing this deal.
Also you can activate a new number in April end and port out the old number later on in July. It will overwrite the new number in july.

Generally RedPocket was on the Verizon network was very good but and this is a huge caveat, RedPocket does not support hotspots on the Verizon network on Android Phones.

This is buried in fine print somewhere in their site. I got RedPocket 8GB plan as I need to use use the hotspot 1-2x month. It never worked and I could never figure out. After a ton of prodding the RedPocket CS finally disclosed that oh yeah, on Android phones on the Verizon network, hotspots are not supported.. Fark.

The service also stopped working in PR. That might be me using my Sprint Pixel 4a, which worked great in the continental US but could never figure out why, it just stopped getting service in PR. Redpocket was no help.

Don't care for Redpocket anymore.

Don't do it. Run.

Bought this to save time and it has wasted more time with new RP BS in multiples.

Bad "high" speed. Admitted miss setup repeatedly.

They lie. Incompetent reps so you don't know what's real.

They do not care about your issues, only theirs. You'll see.

I used to like them on the low cost plan. DO not make the mistake of trusting RP.

How is the quality of service as far as call and data are concerned? TIA.

I used to be an AT&T customer and recently ported to TMobile. I miss the data coverage quality of AT&T.
Calling should be the same. The only difference is data is deprioritized when you use a prepaid service. Sometimes when I am at a mall and data is slow, I'm thinking to myself these cannot be the correct speeds. Anywhere with a lot of people sometimes your data can be very slow.

MVNO can not roam either which means sometimes you won't get ANY signal since you cannot connect to other major carrier networks. This is not noticeable unless you go into rural areas or go hiking where sometimes there's only coverage from one provider you don't have. This was noticeable because I was on a Verizon MVNO and my friend was on Sprint MVNO and he could not get any signal at all and I had 4G coverage.

You can fix this issue by using Google FI which negotiated non-deprioritized data AND uses multiple carrier networks so you don't have to roam. The only issue is google fi costs probably double or more than other MVNO providers. But you pay for this if you still want to go prepaid but with good service

Redpocket is no different than every other prepaid service. Your data is deprioritized as you are not a main customer like at&t, verizon, etc.

That's the biggest tradeoff to being on a prepaid MVNO plan. Only exception to that is google fi but it is also not cheap
