I used to ONLY fill up at Shell, but they are one of the highest priced here in CA, and have been for the duration on the pandemic, so I ditched them. This is basically a gallon of fuel for free, but for what you're paying there you may as well go somewhere else and save even more.

FYI The T-Mobile Tuesdays Shell deal got WAY worse this year. It used to be 10¢ off, plus the normal silver or gold discounts of 3¢ or 5¢, and I believe good all week, or at least until Sunday night, then they cut it to had to be used by Friday night...

2022 Tuesdays: You get free Gold Status for three months, so 5¢ off, and then an additional 5¢ off, that MUST be used, on Tuesday.

A friend gave me one of their free Tmo lines so I could have Tmo and Verizon, so I used to use this promo once in awhile vs going to Costco, as it would sometimes make it the same price, however, now it doesn't make much sense as Shell is the highest priced fuel here.

This is still a good deal, but not amazing if you already have a CC that gives 4% back for gas, granted, if you purchased this gift card with a 2% cash back gift card, you'd still be somewhere between 7-8% off. I might grab a couple for trips in the future when I won't be able to pass a Costco.

I have the same Bank of America 3% category on my BankAmericard Visa. Watch those fools, they often don't 'recognize' an online purchase and don't give the full 3% I have seen this countless times.

I've sent them a spreadsheet of their misses and they take about a month then mail you a letter back blaming the merchant for not classifying it as online, even when the merchant name is clearly a website.

It's very frustrating.

Can you double dip using the T-Mobile Tuesday discount (despite the downgrade to only having to use it on Tuesday) and use a gift card? I have never figured it out how to apply a gift card while also using the additiona 5 + 5 cents off. The Shell app only gives me the option to pay using Paypal, Shell credit card, or checking account.

Idk. Here you just hit rewards, fuel rewards, then enter your phone number for the FR discount, and then pay.

Having gone back and forth between the two, and doing a similar 100 mile drive once or twice a month over the past year, I get the exact same or slightly better mileage with Costco's gas, plus it's usually 13-20¢ less than Shell.

I think you only have to add the T-Mobile Tuesday code to your Fuel Rewards account on Tuesday, but you still have through Friday to use it. I know at least last week I used my 10¢ on Thursday.

This is a physical Shell gift card, so you can enter your Fuel Rewards account to get the lower price and just swipe the card when it asks you if you want to pay credit or debit. I didn't think about entering the gift card in the Fuel Rewards app since I had the physical card.

Off-topic: I went to 4 Shell stations on the way home a few weeks ago hoping to use my T-Mobile Tuesday discount. I had forgotten my wallet at home and was hoping I could just use my phone and pay contactless. Not a single Shell station I went to had a pump where the contactless payment was working. They all had the hardware, but it would never take the payment. They had a green LED lit up but nothing happened. I ended up going to a Wawa where the green LED on the contactless pad was flashing and it worked fine.

Yes, just enter your Fuel Rewards account (I use the alternate ID phone number) and when it prompts you for CREDIT or DEBIT, I swipe (insert and remove) my gift card in the card reader.

It may depend on the station, but the two I've tried in Florida gave me the credit price even though I was using a Shell gift card. It's annoying since the Fuel Rewards app shows the lowest (cash) price. The GasBuddy app isn't clear about it but at least now it seems to default to the credit price and gives you a slider to show the cash price. In my opinion, it needs to clearly indicate which stations give lower cash prices.

Costco is top tier fuel, not sure what you're talking about. Sam's Club on the other hand is not.

of course today is probably the last day my RZ points from the weber grill deal will be in "pending" state. great post OP. shell gift cards are almost never discounted.
