There are 2 slots which are quite easy to access. The bottom is easier to take off than other consumer laptops I have upgraded before. There is also a 2.5" SATA bay and cable that can run a second drive in addition to the NVME drive.

This is an excellent deal, for anyone with modest multitasking / storage requirements or who is willing to open the case (or have someone else do it) for a cheap upgrade:

-Full HD Screen, often missing in $300 laptops
-Most recent (11th gen) i3, which performs similar to 10th gen i5 in most tasks
-SDD and ram are low, but not hard to upgrade if need be

You pay dearly for more RAM and/or SDD space. This is the sweet spot at the moment

For a pleasant experience, you really need at least 8 gbs of RAM. Also, that 128 gb hard drive will fill up pretty quick. I'm not sure if this is still a good deal once you make these upgrades.

I'm mostly concerned about the RAM. How many slots are there in the laptop and how much RAM can I put in? I'm less worried about SSD as I'll use my NAS too store important data.

is this using wifi 6? this is sort of comparable to the other ~$300 dell laptop at 14". However, you do give up a few specs for the bigger 15" screen. For example, you get slower ram (which I assume is upgradeable anyway), lower quality hard TPU chassis, no backlit keyboard, and a slightly smaller battery.

Does anyone know the nits of the display for this one?

Missing USB C compared to 14" $300 last month deal. 14" supports display ( I tried 2 external displays) and charging via usb c. That's huge plus for docking these portable laptop.
Also I read no backlit, and the 14" had 2 nvme slots, not huge deal but still it packed all those including 4 cell battery.
i3 is enough for most daily tasks including multiple resource intensive apps like OBS ( screen recording), iTunes, chrome with 30 tabs, zoom, Spotify, Mpc player, word, outlook, WhatsApp. I tried all these simultaneously and it was running fine without fan spinning all the time. I upgraded RAM -16GB module and WD570 nvme in my Dell 14" laptop.
While upgrading I also installed Windows 10.

Thanks for the comparison analysis, I think I'm going to wait/hope for another 14" for $300 deal.
