I have these in black, paired with two 10" Klipsch subs. I bought these five years ago at full price and I use them several hours daily. I use a Hafler amp to run them. I love them but I wish I had waited for a deal like this.
Side note, I also have the big Klipsch outdoor speakers that restaurants and bars use. They sound even better than these.
Having some Malbec and rocking some chillhop on these through a series X right now.
Depending on what you were coming from, I still think the RP-260F are a fantastic speaker. Again, I'm not sure what you are replacing but I completely understand the desire for an upgrade. If this has been down to $300, I might have risked the wrath of my better half on these lol
I am coming from a soundbar. As "that guy" who has used TV audio almost his entire life (36yo), plugging in my first pair of RP-160M's today (going 2.0 for now, more en route) and playing an episode of Ted Lasso was almost like a spiritual awakening for my ears. I honestly can't believe I went this long without quality sound. It was seriously like taking cotton balls out of my ears, that high fidelity!
There's no turning back from here.
Oh, and the reason I didn't spring for the 280F is that my better half would have my head on a pike if I got anything bigger than the 260F, lol. And I agree with CimoD, I would keep what you have now. This Reference Premiere line is from 2015, and that's all I can afford for now. As painful as it is now, since we are all frugal here, you gotta save up for a bigger upgrade! Or, at least wait til the 2018 Reference Premiere line goes down in price.

Yeah, I honestly would have loved the upgrade but only if it moved my RP-260F to be my surrounds and used the RP-280F as my new front L/R. I have done some custom work on my RP-260F towers recently and I don't know if I can part with them anytime soon.
Congrats on making the leap! You are absolutely right. There is no going back now. Just know that it is a never ending, addictive cycle to get that next little upgrade to enhance that experience you are having right now. I'm always chasing that high lol. Home theater can be an expensive hobby but man oh man is it fun.
I actually just sacrificed my rear heights in my theater setup in order upgrade my surrounds to a pair of RP-150M and upgraded my reference level center to the RP-450C. I've hit that euphoric state again with these current upgrades so I'm very content for now. I'll eventually add the rear heights back in to get my 5.2.4 setup back but I want those rear heights to match my front heights this time (R-41M until I upgrade them down the line as well).
If you ever hit a stand still and are getting happy with what you have but want to really try something new, look into tactile transducers (bass shakers). They can be easily powered and are not very expensive but add a while new level of immersion that you would not believe!
Congrats, again!
Larger woofers. Packs more punch. I really enjoy my RP-260F. Would love to be able to hear a comparison in person between them. In a perfect world, I would move my RP-260F to be surrounds and the RP-280F as my main F/L channels but my wife would kill me in my sleep.
I was in search of the perfect world too and used the full length speakers as rear surround. The problem with that is surround rears suppose to stay much closer to my seating couch compared to fronts that thus the couch was blocking the sounds coming from the bottom two drivers of the full length back speakers. Changed that to RP-150Ms as rear speakers and put them on stands aligned with ear height. I like it much better that way.
Not saying you could not use 260s as rears but result will depend on your room size and placement.

Thank you! Riding that euphoria for sure. In other news, my bonus room has that "new AVR smell", I think the receiver has some burnt coil or components from being powered on for the first time. I've read about it on some forums, so not too scared.
Definitely will check out tactile transducers, though may wait some time for the little one to grow up, lest I disturb her afternoon naps!

That was actually one of my biggest reasons for getting into them. I can cut the bass down a lot from the subs now and still get that deep feeling when something big happens without worrying about waking up the kids because the house is shaking lol. Definitely a fun thing to try

IMHO, it's not worth the the trouble. For an upgrade, I would hunt for a pair of RP-8000F's.
