Make sure to check your traps every day. Found 4 snakes had drowned in a minnow trap once because I did not get there in time,

This apply to all traps really.

I have a mouse trap and it caught a chipmunk. A stupid chipmunk too so maybe that's not so bad. I let him out once and he go back into the trap, the 2nd time I didn't get to it in time.

I'm guessing too small, unless you maybe want something to store and keep the crabs alive in in their native environment (e.g. open this trap up and put a few in then lower into the water... I would band their claws first though). No way a Dungeness will crawl into this unless it's undersized. Blue crab? Maybe... but I doubt it. Most of the time guys are using hoop nets and crab-specific traps for crabbing.
