This deal was posted several days ago at 159, found it on clearance at my local store for 89.99 so posting again with revised price reduction. My store had 2 remaining. Good luck! Original "black Friday" tag was listed at 199 or something.
Very interested in this - how do I interpret BS saying there are 7 in stock "clearance" but HD.com telling me there are none in stock (at the same store)?
Also, this is a 1/2 HP motor - would this be suitable for a single, 8 foot insulated door?
I am closing on a house in a few weeks and anticipate changing out the currently banged up garage doors for insulated ones, and also changing out the shit craftsman openers they currently have.

I got mine for a single garage in my new house, 1/2 hp should not be an issue unless you get something really heavy like "wood" doors. 8 ft length may require an additional extension though, that I'm not familiar with.
guessing I'd need a little bigger, maybe 3/4 HP for a 2 car garage door?
1/2 hp should* be okay but I'd say go with 3/4 hp to be safe. Weight of door, resistance from rust/age etc will all wear on the motor and having the extra power may help with smoother operation.
Take that with a grain of salt tho, that's the logic I followed for my 2 car garage door in my new house. I'm not expert

7 sounds like a worthy trip to home Depot if it's not a crazy drive lol. Mine showed 0 in stock and I found 2.

Standard 8 foot, single bay door - insulated, which means it will be a bit heavier.
I put in a Genie belt drive on my current, 8 foot DOUBLE door a couple years ago and it was pretty straightforward. I'll assume Chamberlain is comparable, the kit for the taller door amounted to a longer belt and a guide rail extension, nothing difficult

Insulation matters less I think than core material of the door, but again I'm no expert. I can't imagine insulating any sort of modern "normal" steel door would increase weight my more than 15-20 lbs. It really shouldn't be a factor in the HP rating for openers. Natural wood doors on the other hand probably weigh a ton.
Curious tho - the genie you installed, did you have to get a rail extension? This one seems to come standard with 7ft rails and I thought that was pretty much the "default" expectation

I picked mine up at $160 d'oh last week. My local HD inventory said 0 instock but I discovered them on an endcap next to the GD section, there were about 8 or 9 left.

I'll swing by on the way home and play the game.... worst thing that happens is I waste 10 minutes. I need 2 not just 1 so my incentive for saving money is higher
My current GD I got on sale from HD as well, ironically it wasn't in the GD section - rather as I looked around for them, none in the typical clearance end caps, none in GD (not even a sticker as if they sold them), but there were a pile on a higher shelf over near the S4S wood. So, either they have a dumbass stock method, or someone was poorly stashing them for later purchase.

Yes, I did (I mentioned as much).
