This deal was posted several days ago at 159, found it on clearance at my local store for 89.99 so posting again with revised price reduction. My store had 2 remaining. Good luck! Original "black Friday" tag was listed at 199 or something.

I recently bought the 3/4th HP Genie belt drive smart garage door opener for $78. It is still in an unopened box. If I can get my hands on this one, is it worth getting this and returning the Genie?
Chamberlain seems to be a better brand and this one has a video cam as well. Thoughts?
I wonder if my existing Genie outdoor pin pad and remotes can be configured to work Chamberlain - any idea if it is possible?

Can't afford a home in Austin at least let me solace with a garage opener
Getting ridiculous out here. All the companies I called this week for a new garage door and opener all asked if I was a property manager. It was like they raised the price cause I'm the homeowner. All these damn people driving up housing. Miss the days that $250k bought you a bomb ass pad, now that won't get you a mobile home.

guessing I'd need a little bigger, maybe 3/4 HP for a 2 car garage door?
Probably not a bad idea, but as long as the door's spring is properly balanced, 1/2 will be fine. How to tell if the door is properly balanced is by releasing it and manually lifting it open; it should remain halfway open/closed. It to wants to roll back down on its own, then spring needs tightened, and vice versa.

Swung by my local HD, plenty in stock at an end cap by the GD section. These are a BF leftover: "B353 + CAM BLACK FRIDAY COMBO" is the HD SKU description.

Worst case I hold onto them, find a better deal, grab that and return or just sell.

Thanks again OP.

What model Genie? Might be the same one I got for around $78 from HD over a year ago (SilentMax 750 [homedepot.com]). I am sure that's a 3/4 HP and it lifts my 16x8 foot door just fine.

I don't know that there's a huge difference between Genie and Chamberlain; this deal has built-in MyQ. Genie has something similar, but at any rate even an add on MyQ is cheap ($15-$20). This deal also has a camera, can't comment on how useful it is (my bigger concern is that it requires a subscription, I haven't looked into it thoroughly but they do sell a subscription that has something to do with storage).

Do you have the Genie Universal Keypad? Apparently it works on everything:

7. What openers are compatible with the Genie Universal Keypad?
Control the most popular brands of garage door openers such as Genie®,
Overhead Door®, Chamberlain®, Linear®, Wayne Dalton®, plus many more!

The hp has more to do with how many times you open and close per day the springs actually open the door

I have a Genie Ultra-Quiet 3/4 hp. Belt Drive Smart Garage Door Opener (Model # 1155-SV
Store SKU # 1006402702). It is similar to the one you linked - but not the same sku.
I have a Genie Universal Keypad that should hold constant. The Chamberlain's smart feature is comparable to MyQ I believe.
I'd value the the camera at ~25 bucks (price of a Wyze V2), So it is the camera and supposed Chamberlain brand premium vs. the additional 1/4th HP that Genie offers. I guess the power will always come in handy.

What is the difference between belt and chain drive? I just purchased an older home and want to get a new opener. My last home had a smart opener and that was great.
