This deal was posted several days ago at 159, found it on clearance at my local store for 89.99 so posting again with revised price reduction. My store had 2 remaining. Good luck! Original "black Friday" tag was listed at 199 or something.

I promise I'm not being a troll, but I'm about to ask a troll question.

What is the purpose of a "smart" garage door opener?

I can't possibly see a need for such a thing to be "smart." It opens and it shuts...? What's the point of a camera? An app?!? I don't get it...
To see if you or someone else left the garage open is my primary reason. Or I can open the garage for visitors when I'm not nearby. Camera is for security.

Maybe. I've never left a garage door open, but nobody is perfect I guess. You can always tell someone the code on and old keypad and then change it once they leave like I've done for years. There's better cameras for security.

Call me a critic. I guess I'm not part of the 'in' crowd. Lol.

Thanks for the answer though!

More advanced users can set the door to automatically open/close on a schedule, or for example make sure if it's still open at 10PM, to close it.

I've used it in the past when I didn't have a remote with me, or even once when I needed to let someone in and I wasn't around (and didn't want to give them the door code which I'd have to change).

Pretty similar, I just installed this one last night and it was straightforward, replacing a LiftMaster chain unit.

This youtube video covers it well - https://youtu.be/e-cgc2kFTss

No problem. Replaced a chain with a belt drive a couple summers ago, was pretty straightforward.

Did they change that? Last time I tried to schedule a close, it refused for safety reasons.

Edit: I'm mistaken. It won't allow you to schedule an opening for security reasons.

I recall reading on an older thread that Home Depot offered discounted installation via local contracted 3rd party. Any idea how to get that? I.e. is that something I must order online when I order the opener? Or do I ask for it in-store during checkout?

I got my 2 car genie installed through it. The sales desk near the garage section should be able to set it up for you (the genie I got was 3/4 hp belt smart. 285 total including install)

Very interested in this - how do I interpret BS saying there are 7 in stock "clearance" but HD.com telling me there are none in stock (at the same store)?

Also, this is a 1/2 HP motor - would this be suitable for a single, 8 foot insulated door?

I am closing on a house in a few weeks and anticipate changing out the currently banged up garage doors for insulated ones, and also changing out the shit craftsman openers they currently have.
Springs hold the weight of the door, you can adjust it too easily be opened with 1/2 hp opener

I called in Jersey last week and they wanted 200 a piece to install. I bought two of these when they were 158 or whatever they were last week. Does anybody have any experience going back and getting the difference with receipt?
