Electric dryers are a lot cheaper than gas, but I wonder how do I calculate the break even point once energy cost is considered?

Is there way to calculate electricity/gas used per 100 cycle, or some other metric?

I've had to take my Samsung dryer apart twice already and it's only 3 years old. The drum rollers are mounted to thin metal that bends, causing the roller bushing (plastic) to wear and wobble, eventually failing. Other issue was a wire connector that has no retaining clip and eventually worked itself loose. My washer has occasional problems with the panel buttons not responding. Also a poor design of the pulsator plate that can't be cleaned between the plastic and metal discs. Samsung fridge has a few problems with ice buildup on the coils that block the drain and cause condensation to drip into the bottom until the water eventually starts spilling out.

Samsung appliances look nice but are just not well engineered or reliable.

Which brand and recommended models would you say are good to purchase for a washer dryer? We are in the market and struggling to find stock and we need Front load - steam - pedestals and have liked LG and some whirlpool models. Whirlpool just cancelled my order made on their website citing back order delays. If you don't know that's fine - you seemed knowledgeable so hoping you may have a good idea.

This Samsung dryer deal they only had one floor model at Costco and said they can't find it anyhow here in GA

Thanks for the input. I have ordered a replacement roller kit for my Samsung (only about 2 years old).

Any TIPS on what to do about the thin metal that bends? Any way to shore that up when I have the unit apart?

I havent had much experience with the dryer, but my samsung washer is been rock solid without any issues since almost 6 yrs now. Thats why I thought of samsung dryer. With costco visa card, I have additional 2 yrs of warranty. Hoping that there wont be any major issues. Fingers crossed.

I really hope my old GE electric dryer would died (17 years) so I can buy a samsung.
GE has never been broken or repair , suprise the belt would last a long time.
I used it ateast 5 times a week. Costco price has the best price for low end model.

Same issue with my Samsung dryer. Have had to replace the rollers 2 times already in 5 years. Sounds like they are going out again. Piece of junk. Fridge ice maker freezes over and over. Thanksgiving it got low on refrigerant and stopped cooling and I had to recharge "the sealed system" Run as fast as you can.

Agreed. Our dryer's motor died after 5 years. At $300 for the motor plus service call charges (and along with that it didn't do a good drying job) we just replaced it with a LG.

Dryer's are pretty simple (it's essentially a large drum, a motor, a belt, a heater and a control panel, so it's simple to take apart and put back together. The other advantage is that you can really give the machine a good cleaning of lint and anything else that may have made it's way into the vent (eg I found some of my daughters bobby pins in there).

I could not see a simple way to reinforce the metal, as that metal piece is mounted to the back housing, and the bottom rollers are mounted where this piece isn't really mounted to anything. Maybe a piece that mounts to the back of the dryer to keep it aligned, but I just assume I'll need to take it apart every 2 years to replace a failed roller and figure it gives me an excuse to clean it and reduce the fire risk. DM me if you want more detailed info or pics.
