It's $0.02 per piece. So basically the normal sale price (not a crazy deal, but a deal nonetheless).

Each piece comes out to $0.02. The average rule of thumb is each piece averages at $0.10
(ie. Set 10283 Space Shuttle Discovery is $199.99 with 2354 pieces at an average of $0.08)

As others replied on a per brick basis this is a good deal. My kids like these for free building. They also like to build other sets and don't like to take them apart so I like the creativity they come up with in this set. Of note, all non-basic sets have unique pieces and people that are lacking in these large 1590 piece sets and the like.

FYI Walmart Also has the other 1500 piece Lego set on sale for $40 which also comes with 4 baseplates. We got the 1500 piece set from Costco when it was on sale last year but it doesn't come with the baseplates. Not as cheap as the set in this post, but it provides a good variety of basic pieces to have both if you are so inclined.

I bought 4 of these on Black Friday close to 10 years ago for I think $30 each. They were selling on ebay for $100 a pop. I still have them in storage. I guess I missed the boat on this one.
