.... and DeWalt 60v batteries need a 60v DeWalt charger.
However: DeWalt 60v batteries will run 20v DeWalt tools.
And, that 60v DeWalt charger will charge DeWalt 20v batteries.
Basically: this 60v trimmer is more powerful than a 20v trimmer ..... the higher Voltage makes this tool more powerful, it is the mAh of your battery that will dictate how long you can trim on 1 full charge.
If you've gotta trim back super-thick weeds, this is what you want.
But, if you're already deep into the DeWalt 20v family, now you'll understand that you're gonna have to get BOTH a DeWalt 60v battery AND matching DeWalt 60v charger.
.... and this is brushless, versus other DeWalt 20v trimmers that aren't brushless.

Yeah totally makes sense for you to get this .... I'd get two, if I were you, doubt you'll see 90$ on these, from a decent Seller, any time soon.

You cannot charge the DeWalt 60v battery on your DeWalt 20v charger, unless it's badged for dual voltage.

Oh well, I baby her ... and I've got a ton of batteries, so I can get through a full day of yard work ... at my and my parent's house.
So, yes, I dunno the model number, but she's brushed, 20v, DeWalt trimmer.
..... I think I bought 2 ... so I got fooled x 2.
And that's why I'm trying to Educate folks here, so they understand that they cannot drop their 20v DeWalt batteries into this 60v trimmer

But ..... you can use that 60v on your 20v DeWalt tools.
You cannot charge the DeWalt 60v battery on your DeWalt 20v charger, unless it's badged for dual voltage.
.... if you need a stronger trimmer.

Why would a user select among the various models?
Is there a benefit to this one where presumably the motor is on the head VS the dcst972 which I assume allows different attachments?

Yes, this tool runs on 60V only. So you have to use a Flexvolt battery (big orange had a 2-pack on sale for $180 recently). But as stated, you can still use this battery on every other Dewalt 20V tool you own, so it's not really starting from scratch. I kind of like how Dewalt maintained backward compatibility. I currently only own one Flexvolt (60V-only) tool, but there are at least 2 more that I will have sooner than later (certain tools just scream for it, imo). So for me, there is no downside at all to getting a Flexvolt tool.
Unfortunately, I already own a cheaper (brushed) Dewalt trimmer. I don't love it, but it is PLENTY for my needs. Nevertheless, I STILL want to buy this so bad... DAMMIT SD!!!!!!
