yes, you will get a 1099 at end of year. 30-40% is gone. That is why credit card bonuses are better as they give out miles which are not taxable (yet). A good credit card bonus offer is worth more than 1000$ but involves a credit hit. This offer also has a credit inquiry but they say it is a soft inquiry so should not affect your credit
It's not that they give out "miles", the cash rewards cards aren't taxable either. They aren't taxable because those rewards require purchases (not like interest, not income). This is just moving money (Like interest, income).

On the topic of interest. this would be 20.00% APY on the 10k, and 40.00% APY on the 200.... Now that's pretty darn good for 3 months mannnn! I signed up. It auto applied promo and used plaid to connect bank account to fund. Took 10 minutes. Gonna let it sit in cash and withdraw immediately.

Probably the best return on a sitting 10k in slickdeal history, I'd imagine. BOFA gives 1k for sitting 250k at Merril.

And they claim 2 week deposit time? Banks make you wait 6 months to even receive!

Why are people busting their nuts over this deal? That's a lot of money to tie up. Banks like huntington, there are no credit pulls(many people are questioning a pull here), you put in 1k for a day at huntington and get a $200 bonus.

Link please?

Because at

https://www.huntington.com/checki...ses-offers

I see:
"To qualify for the $200 cash bonus, you are required to open a new, qualifying Huntington 5 Checking account by February 7, 2022 and make cumulative new money deposits into the checking account of at least $1,000 or more within 60 days of account opening and keep your account open for 90 days."

And also this tidbit:
"This offer is only available to applicants residing in Colorado, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Dakota, West Virginia or Wisconsin."

The only negative would be if you can't get it in your state. But that was just one example. Another example, Fifth Third, just paid out $300 for, I believe it was, a singular $500 direct deposit. Could close account as soon as you get bonus with no penalty.

Actually, I could be wrong but I believe the IRS considers credit card bonuses (in any form\points, miles, statement credit, gift cards, etc.) as rebates\discounts. So it is not income, it is X dollars off your purchases in a manner similar to if you used a 50c off coupon at the grocery store. That interpretation likely has more to do with the difficulty they would have in determining the value of those bonuses across the various different types of cards than with anything else, but no one is complaining in that respect except the tax and spend clowns imo.

To be fair, having to live in one of only 11 states is not the "only negative" - you claimed "you put in 1k for a day" and get $200, but it's 90 days…

Not trying to be a d*ck, but making claims like that wastes people's time.

Can you link your other "deals?" Saying you "believe it was" $300 isn't really helpful and your use of the past tense implies it's not a current offer. Again, I'm genuinely interested in any better, current offers.

Make sure your spouse is opening their own account. If you do it for them because they don't care about these things, that is considered identity theft and fraud.
just like anything else, there has to be the element of nefarious intent.

not vouching for the deal, i don't know anything about it....first time seeing it here. but it literally took me 5 seconds to google "fifth third $300 bonus" to get this right at the top:

These things are not mutually exclusive...

While it's possible to hit a wall in terms of your liquid capital, if something only requires you to deposit for a day, or simply do one DD, they why not do all of them? Smilie

Fyi...Amex business checking offers $300 on a 5k+ deposit for 60 days with the usual jump through the hoops terms on 10 online transactions required. Also offers 1.1% interest, so as a general savings account it offers over 2x what you can get anywhere else. Open as a sole proprietor if you do not have a corp.

It's from the same guy that started "Think or swim" which is now part of Ameritrade. He came to speak at an AAII meeting I went to - he's very pro small investor.

Dudes like this are the worst. Make a bold ass claim and do not provide any additional info.

Then when you go digging, you find out they leave out some crucial info... Why even bother comment? Lol
