I have a couple this purchased within the last 3-5 years at $6-$7 each. It works well. The design of the switch is to avoid plugging and unplugging. When you have more than one device, you need to trace each cable is for which device after unplug. With a switch, you just put a label on it or remember which port. I use it to turn off a webcam and a microphone whenever I don't need it.

by that logic, all tv's should have 1 hdmi port?

I'm kind of a stickler for having my wires arranged properly and hidden from view. It triggers some sort of OCD tendencies when it doesn't look perfect. So something like this is perfect for me.

I actually have this on my laptop right now. Works perfectly as expected. The lights inside to indicate on/off went out on one port pretty early but doesn't really matter. Have my keyboard, mouse, headset charging cable and my speaker charging cable all plugged in and they work flawlessly.

I think I paid this same price Oct. 2020 so not sure if it's really a deal but I'm very pleased with it

I bought this for $9.99 like two years ago almost. I love it, the buttons are fantastic, it holds the USB connection very tight. Would I buy it again today? I would spend a few extra bucks and get a USBC version today.

used to be FAR from Newegg

if you want to play the "used to be" game, might as well really go for it:

Prices 1960...
Cost of a first-class stamp: $0.04
Cost of a gallon of regular gas: $0.31
Cost of a dozen eggs: $0.57
Cost of a gallon of Milk: $0.49
Cost of a computer in the 1960s about ~$5M USD and it didn't even have HDMI or any USB ports at all. These hubs are a steal.

I've put adhesive LED strips on the back of my computer monitors and desk, I use this to turn them on and off. Very easy.

I use this like others do to turn off my webcam and microphone. It's nice to have hard switches for that and also far easier and faster than pulling plugs since my PC is tucked back. I have a couple of them and never have an issue.

You are misunderstanding what he is saying. Their argument is Instead of having a power switch for each port in the hub, just unplug the device you don't want powered.

Their are other hubs like that, this may have use for some.
Why would you want to unplug and replug a device that can have a switch?

Same here, webcam and USB speakers killed or activated with a physical button. Also like how they are illuminated to warn me of status.

The short cable is not my preference but an extension makes it work well enough.

Purchased 2017 for $9 and generally always in a $10 price range. It works. Not a very hot deal but decent product.

I have several of these. They work great! 2.5 years ago full retail price was 7.99, now 14.99!! Overall very happy with the product. I use them for 5v lights for power outages and tent camping.

Does anyone know of a high end version of this? I have this and it works great for my Blue Yeti mic. But my camera/Elgato Cam Link 4k would constantly freeze. That product seems to need direct access to a USB on the system.

I have a bunch of these, the cable is 2 feet long.
Anything more than 8 inches won't be used anyways

Back flows power so do not use a power adapter with it. I find decent powered models are more reliable when you need a lot of ports, but for switching very few it is fine
