I have a couple this purchased within the last 3-5 years at $6-$7 each. It works well. The design of the switch is to avoid plugging and unplugging. When you have more than one device, you need to trace each cable is for which device after unplug. With a switch, you just put a label on it or remember which port. I use it to turn off a webcam and a microphone whenever I don't need it.

I'm kind of a stickler for having my wires arranged properly and hidden from view. It triggers some sort of OCD tendencies when it doesn't look perfect. So something like this is perfect for me.

used to be FAR from Newegg

if you want to play the "used to be" game, might as well really go for it:

Prices 1960...
Cost of a first-class stamp: $0.04
Cost of a gallon of regular gas: $0.31
Cost of a dozen eggs: $0.57
Cost of a gallon of Milk: $0.49
Lol a 30% jump in 2 years time isn't normal bro ... but yes bought this at 7 like 3 years ago but it rocks !

There's also a powered version, but it doesn't appear to be on sale and it costs twice as much

Sabrent 4-Port USB 3.0 Hub with Individual LED Lit Power Switches, Includes 5V/2.5A Power Adapter (HB-UMP3) https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B00TPMEOYM/
All of them have the power input - if you can find a compatible power adapter it will work

I'm pretty sure (100%) these weren't available in 1960....at any cost.

Maths. Even with 2 percent inflation, prices would be 4 times in 60 years. And inflation doesn't stay at 2 "naturally", it does because of scientific advances and country's growth.

Though we do expect our money to grow atleast 7 percent, so $1 would be expected o grow to $16 in those 60 years.

These are handy for 3d printers as well because the buttons only cut off the power not the signal terminals. If you add a raspberry pi with octoprint to an ender the USB will backfeed the screen when the printer is off. Its common to modify a usb cable to block the power terminals. this accomplishes the same thing and gives you some USB ports for other stuff for the RPi (webcam/etc).
Good to know. I have a couple of these from 2018 @ $7.67 each.
I want to add octoprint to my E3V2.
I have one connected to an older PC that will not boot Win10 when a couple external 3.0 drives are connected. I just boot then press the buttons and the system is happy.

I use these to turn on my LED light strip in my office when I feel like it rather than using the remote

Wish they were made exact same configuration and exact same undetached cable (hate USB b micro), but with 7 ports instead of 4 ... Couldn't find any for a long time, need it to attach under laptop mount shelf, currently using one with USB b micro and without proper support for cable it suck
