I honestly can't recommend this book enough. Not only is this book and the entire series absolutely great, but Jefferson Mays does an amazing job with the narration imo. The final book came out in November and the final (for now) episode of the series was released in December on Prime Video. Rumor has it that they're wanting to do movies for the last three books. The show is one of my favorites and this book series is too. I really recommend starting this book though.
Can't highly recommend this book and the entire series enough. The books and the show are magnificent. The authors are heavily involved in the show, which helped maintain the quality when transferred from book to show.
Don't forget to watch them on Prime Video for an extra 25 minutes of scenes. No spoilers but one of them gave me a good laugh. Pause on the 5 episode of this season to view all five or you'll only see the ones available after each episode was released.
I'm almost through reading the first book and I'm rewatching the show as I go to see the changes. So far, I think the show did a great job converting book to scene based on time constraints of each episode. Book is definitely better but the show puts faces to the name which makes it easy to visualize as you read.

Yup I have only seen the first episode of this season yet. Wanted to wait till they were all out and I had time to enjoy them haha

I got this book for a similar price several years ago. Probably when Amazon got rights to the show; or when they started their own 1st season (season 3).
I read a chapter or so and it was good and has great detail. But I'm not a book reader. So, I just watch the videos and read the comments about important points left out of the books that didn't make the show episodes.
Hoping they make a spin off in the future and pick up where they left off or advanced another 200 years from where the show left off.
Oh, I got this from Amazon audible.

Really enjoyed this series and the novellas that come with it. Word of caution though, make sure you get the audiobooks narrated by Jefferson Mays (like the one in OP's deal). There's one or two narrated by someone else, and thankfully they're re-releasing a different recording with Jefferson Mays.
Amazon series only covers books 1-6. The final episode you indicate end book #6 and not the final 3 books in the series. The last one seemed to be too compressed. Great series to binge.
Would you guys recommend reading the books or watching the show first? For someone that has done neither, but would like to do both.
I usually like video before books but in this case reading the books first benefits you because the shows do not spoon feed you the information. There's a lot going on and things like the belter dialect make a lot of plot points difficult to follow.

It depends on you really since the general plot is the same in both. The books are written in a POV style, centering on the major characters in that book, so you get to see that character's thinking, reasoning, etc that you don't get to see in the show. Additionally, there are a lot of details, sequence of events, and characters that were omitted, condensed, or altered in the show. I was a show first books second and I still enjoyed both formats. Right now I'm listening to books 1-8, including all novellas in between, again before starting book 9, which is the last one that was released last month. Currently on book 3 and enjoying every bit of it.

I'm reading the books first and am two books ahead of where I am in the show, and sometimes I get frustrated with the differences. I get they have to compress things, but you'll run into some "that never happened in the books" and "those characters don't relate to each other that way in the books" moments.
That said, other times are neat, like the first shot of the the ship they end up flying and I was like "Oh awesome, that's the [ship name here]!"
I think it may be good to watch the show first. That way when you go back to read the books you'll have the characters in your head, but you may have forgotten enough of the show's details that reading the books then fills everything in.

He's fantastic.
Great series (although like everything slightly over hyped)
If anybody wants something similar and every bit as gritty that helped define this "spacer / belter / miner" genre....
Search out books within the "company wars" series by CJ Cherryh. Heavy Time, HellBurner etc.
She has won every single award you can imagine and her dialogue and psychology is extremely intense.
