I have this TV from the last deal at this price. It's a great tv with 1 exception. It's not very bright. I tried it in our living room which is a little bright during the daytime. The only place to set up the TV was across the room from some windows. That condition made for a terrible experience for daytime TV watching. Unless we used room darkening shades it just wasn't worth it to have OLED. Night time it was great. So we relocated the TV to the basement and it awesome down there. With the lights on it's an average TV in the basement. With the lights off it's amazing. I love everything about this TV except for the brightness.

Seems to me if you do a lot of daytime TV watching OLED might not be worth the extra $$. However, night time movies are awesome.

No signs of burn in whatsoever.

This is a 2020 model. So it's basically 2 years old now. Not bad. I rather have the LG CX if you're talking about older model and those you can also find for $1500 new. My Costco had the display model LG 65C1 for $1300.

Lg c1 65" costco $1900 5 year warranty or this one. Is warranty overrated as this OLED tech is matured now? Also I do have Sony 65" led tv and in general like it for better picture quality.

Do things like HDR and Dynamic HDR make a difference on streamed Netflix movies, etc? My TV isn't HDR so can't tell.

For example I paid for the high-res Netflix streaming and couldn't tell the difference. A Blu-Ray still looks better to my eyes, not even a 4K Blu-Ray.
I find myself using HDR on Netflix most of the time. I've tried streaming with Dolby Vision but always find it way too dark for my taste.

Well, I use HBO Max, Prime, and Apple TV+ mainly. I personally just noticed that with the external streaming devices that the picture just looks better all around than with the A8H's built in apps running the same apps. The external streaming devices (roku Apple TV) just seem to process and upscale the streaming apps much better for me than on the A8H's built in apps. Brightness, clarity etc. Maybe others have different experiences but that's just mine ?
I felt the same way! Apple TV 4K seems to look better than any built-in or installed apps

Weird...I have this TV in the 55" size and it does NOT play nice with my Apple TV 4K. It's been one massive headache after another.

All OLED are intentionally crippled in brightness TO prevent burn in.

OLED does most things very well indeed.

They just don't get bright enough.

Especially for proper HDR highlights.

The advent of HDR and dynamic tone mapping has been more impactful to me than going from Full HD to 4K resolution. But, you need to have a TV set that supports these formats to fully appreciate it.

Just got an open box from BB for $1304. Like another poster mentioned it's Made in Mexico, manufactured NOV 2021. Screen is glass/glossy. Like my Plasma, this is not meant for a bright room.

What kind of issues? I use ATV in all my TV's, and plan to connect it to this A8H as well.

Damn, on the fence with this deal or wait for Super Bowl sale on the newer A80J. Non-gamer here. Anyone know what the lowest the A80J has ever gone?
Cheapest I seen was Black Friday for $1,800 I believe (may have been $1,899, can't recall). When the tv was marked down for Black Friday boxes, Best Buy also had the open boxes marked down. My buddy got a 65 A80J open box good condition for $1,600 about. He opened a best buy credit card and got an additional 10% off.

Same here! I jumped the gun for the open box and paid for 5 year warranty at BB. Tried out some 4k blu rays last night… it was amazing. I have the LG C9 but that panel has burn in so it haven't been watching that TV much since I do most of my watching in my room anyway.
