CLEAR is offering $50/year memberships for college/university students [rate is good for 4 years]. Memberships are usually $179 per year. https://www.clearme.com/studentenroll

If you are not a student, you can still get a discounted rate as a Delta SkyMiles member (free to sign up) at $109-$119/year (and free for Delta's Diamond Medallion level). After the account is set up, you can add your spouse for only $60 per year [kids under 18 are free; up to two additional adult children are $60 year]. [https://www.clearme.com/partner/delta] [clearme.com]

If you hold an American Express Platinum card, this deal is truly slick. You can purchase a discounted CLEAR membership for $119 through the Delta link. Once the account is established, add your spouse for $60, and Amex will credit you the entire $179. The result is a FREE MEMBERSHIP FOR YOU AND YOUR SPOUSE!! https://global.americanexpress.co...t/platinum

Is this a sing of this company finally going away. They're services are utterly pointless, not to mention they take up space from busy airports. I know some techie wants to keep their lifestyle extravagant but they need to come up with something useful first.

The TSA has been experimenting with biometric access to security checkpoints, I've personally done it at DTW. That's basically half of what Clear does. The other half is sketch - imagine TSA where you can pay to skip the line ala Disney's Genie pass. That's probably the main value in Clear, being able to skip the line.

given that they haven't expanded that much after years of being in business and most of the times people have not even heard of them, I would take a guess and say that they are not doing well as business. most probably they are going out of business. expect to see more discounts and eventual demise.

Also you don't need to travel with ID if you have clear, which is nice.
Who does that? Seriously, it's so bizarre to me.
Had an acquaintance that has Clear at their home airport, but was flying to one without Clear and they didn't bring their ID! Luckily someone else from their home area was also flying to their same destination, so they were able to bring their ID to them, but would have likely been a PITA trying to fly home without proper ID.
