Hmm, q350s or the Uni-Fi UB52s i just got from amazon for $499?
I have owned both KEF and Elac. Both are good but my preference would be the KEF. I find Elac to be a little laid back compared to the KEF but I would say both are pretty neutral speakers

i appreciate the reply. would you have a stronger suggestion/recommendation if the use case is near field listening and not intended to fill a big room with sound? I'd have the speakers mounted on desk about 5 feet away to the left and right side from me. For music only.
I bought a pair of Q350s for my front LRs. They came cosmetically damaged so I only used them for a week. In that time, my Q150s came for my rear soundstage and I used those for my fronts while I returned my Q350s. I found that to my ears, the Q150s image better and the bass differences were marginal. I now have the Q750s for my fronts and that, to me, was a larger upgrade from the Q150s than the Q350s were.
is it really worth the upgrade from Kef Q150 to Q350? $200 difference?
It's debatable that it's an upgrade; at least some people prefer the smaller drivers. And from the measurements that I've seen, I think the Q350 may have elevated upper bass, while the Q150 is flatter (though if you're using capable room correction on your lower frequencies, then this may not matter). If you'll be using a sub, as you should with either speaker, then I would probably be more inclined to get the Q150. The Q350 would do a little better below ~80 Hz, but neither of these speakers can play very deep. FWIW, I own the Q150 and Q550 but have never heard the Q350 or Q750.

Is the sub worth it?
No. This sub would only (possibly) be worth considering if you especially love the size and appearance of it. If you're just after performance and don't mind a larger, heavier, uglier subwoofer, then there would be better options at comparable prices, like the 10" Monolith models.
