3 is definitely unnecessary, but it helped even out the response in the room while adding some extra rumble to the couch.
I originally upgraded to a 7.1.4 (7 surround sound, 1 subwoofer and 4 Atmos above) but found the subwoofer wasnt in the best spot, so I added a 2nd (a R12SW) to help even out the response rather than just relocating the first sub. Both ran at a reduced power and got the results I wanted. I added a 3rd for the hell of it when it was on sale again, and ended up positioning it directly behind the couch to add a bit of a punch. Definitely overkill but it worked.
Then I added 4x aura bass shakers to the couch anyways, so that 3rd sub was mostly moot.
Now it's got 7 surround + 4 Atmos overhead + 3 subs + 4 couch shakers
It's totally stupid but it makes movie nights fun
I remembered the BIC F12 being right around $200, but nearly every vendor has it for $250-$300 now. I haven't shopped around since early 2020 so I'm likely very out-of-date.
The F12 is a friggin rockstar IMO. AcousticSoundDesign has it for $220 currently. I'd probably still recommend someone on a budget just getting 2x of these R-12SWs though as that's just a great value for a dual-sub setup.

I bought them but then covid hit and I missed the return period
New, not opened, just my monitor plays music so no need for them.

If you buy an R-12SW and a wireless kit, you would get 2 transceivers (one for the sub, one for the receiver)
From a wired-only mode, you should not see any differences between either sub (besides the price)
From a wireless-mode, the R-12SWi should look cleaner (since you don't need an external transceiver on the sub, it's built in)..
This does seem to indicate that you can't simply buy the R-12SWi and sell the wireless kit separately, as part of it is built into the sub and part of it is external. It's essentially paired to THAT SUB.
They both seem to have the same specs otherwise, including wired inputs
