Conical burr grinders are where it's at, but this grinder isn't it. Don't waste your money. Baratza Encore is notably one of the best entry level burr grinders. If that's out of your price range, the Capresso infinity is an amazing alternative.
Reviews on Amazon are less than stellar
I'm not sure what people expect in a burr grinder at a blade grinder price. Come on. Yes, it should work, and not break. Where is there any burr grinder under $50-$75? I got lucky around 3 years ago when Aldi ran their brand for under $20. I ran to get it. Still works, but the grinds aren't that much different between modestly fine, and coarse. But, the coffee is good, and having one can keep the burr grinder snobs from their normal critiques of your lifestyle. That alone is worth $30.

Man the price for the burr grinder is sooo tempting but amazon reviews are really concerning (quality issues, cleaning issues, warranty issues)...anyone want to weigh in on whether it's worth the risk?

I have the Mr. Coffee Cafe Grind which is pretty good except you have to clean out the shoot under the burr often.
I would guess that this is similar to the cheap Cuisinart burr grinder...but haven't seen any pictures to confirm that. But generally at this price point it should be labeled "burr" grinder. The burrs are super cheap, stamped metal with super dull edges/teeth. This is a marginal upgrade over a whirlybird grinder...should probably save your money and wait for a Baratza or Capresso if you're remotely serious about coffee.

If you must have a burr grinder but can't afford one of those, get a hand grinder.
