23 gauge is only for fine furniture making and tiny trim. A 16 or 18 gauge for base. There's debate on this but I think 18 is fine for base if you hit some studs with 2 or 2.5 in nails.

Good deal. Should add 23 gauge NP35A to title.

I have some baseboards to install. About 80 linear feet. Is this nailer good for that job? If not what type of nail gun would be better?

No, your base is 3/4", the drywall is 1/2" so you would be hitting studs to only 1/8" depth, not enough to hold. Thats why the 2" grexx is used for base and casings, in applications where nail holes are not acceptable, like stained trims in high end houses. For painted trims you want an 18 gauge gun, you can fill the holes with putty and then paint it.

Really good nailer. My last one lasted 10yrs of almost daily use. Highly recommend.
OTH, 18g fell apart after 3-4 months.
Yet, OTH 16g still going strong after 8 years.
OTH, 18g probably made on a Friday at the factory it seems...

I've always used 18g for base, there not much weight to them, and if you hit all studs, it distributes the support evenly.

I own one and it is pretty good. I recommend watching some videos about using pins if you haven't before.

Also depends on drywall vs plaster walls. 18g was fine for baseboard at my old house built in the 50's but wouldn't dare do it at my 80s house with drywall unless you hit all your studs.

Great nailer, doesn't jam. I have this and the 15GA. work very good and reliable as long as you oil them regularly

Yes but this is not the right gauge for all-around use since it's 23 gauge holding power is only for fine trim. You'll want a 16-gauge

Isn't the np50a just a better version of this with a large nail length capacity?

Newbie here also, if I want to do some shiplap patterns on my wall, will this suffice or do I need an 18g?
