Here, I will do your homework for you, but you owe me a coffee.
https://www.costco.com/concierge-...ranty.html

Buy a TV, computer, major appliance or water heater and Costco extends the warranty coverage to 2 YEARS

Purchase with your Costco Anywhere Visa® Card by Citi and extend your warranty* coverage for an additional 2 YEARS.

You need to do the math though, and show your work for credit.

specifically went to costco to check this out. only cons IMO are following: the screen wobble is intense so if you like using laptops in your lap, expect a fair amount of screen movement when typing. the touchpad is really small and feels too plasticky. this model is known for a less than stellar touchpad and that was evident in the little time i spent with it. The fan vents are pointing towards the screen which is a weird design decision. but on a good note, screen is nice, 16:10. end to end keyboard is really nice! and it's really lightweight. I/O at this price is solid too. all in all, the price is fantastic for what you get but i couldn't bite cause of the weak trackpad and screen wobble

4. Aluminum Case (not sure if the Dell has an Aluminum case)
This Dell, the top lid may be aluminum. The palm rest base feels like plastic. And the bottom removable cover is plastic like in most dell systems.
I think for laptops hope some does the material test like Jerryrig does it for cellphones. In those YT videos he reveals true material used in the phone by scratching the case with knife.

Got one in store. Was going to go with the HP i3 on sale for $380, but figured this was a better deal with double the RAM, SSD, bigger battery and a better CPU. First thing I did was wipe the SSD and ditch the pre-loaded Windows 11 install. Setting up a dual boot with Arch Linux and a fresh install of Windows 11 Home downloaded from Microsoft was a straight forward and painless process. The Windows 11 installer set up all the hardware and the install was activated out of the box. To my surprise, the mainstream Linux kernel recognized all the hardware, despite being a current generation laptop. Gnome runs like a dream and everything works including WiFi, bluetooth, touchpad, screen brightness with the current Linux firmware out of the box. The only firmware I needed to install were for the sound card and fingerprint reader. Linux has definitely come a long way as a consumer OS. Very happy with the choice I made. It will serve me well for a good while.

I bought this laptop and going to return it.

A few issues:

1) Battery life is mediocre. I barely get 6 hours using it for just web browsing and video. I think it's due to the high wattage CPU so keep that in mind. Haven't used a laptop with this mediocre a battery life in awhile. I'm sure that's enough for a number of people, but I like to take it around the city with me and I need at least 10 hours of light use.

2) Trackpad is super annoying. Haven't used such a temperamental trackpad in a very long time. It sometimes registers double taps….sometimes doesn't. Sometimes it doesn't register my finger (my guess is when it gets too hot). Either way it's annoying AF and tired of babysitting it after using it for a week (came from a MacBook and Yoga 920 as reference).

3) No touch screen. This one's on me and not a big deal, but I do miss it from my Yoga. It's just so convenient to just use your finger while in bed. Keep that in mind when buying this laptop.

4) Wi-Fi module is pretty bad….signal strength is not very strong.

It's a shame since it looks pretty slick and on paper pretty great value. It's thin and light, has a nice iGPU, and good display. But for me it doesn't work.

I just think if you spend a bit more you can get a much better laptop that solves a lot of these issues. Acer has a laptop on sale on Amazon with a Ryzen r5700 for $580 and Tigerdirect has a Thinkbook with a r5800 for $770. Or you can get a Yoga 6 open box at Best Buy for around $490-640 depending if you want an r7 Ryzen and more RAM. All of these seem better for every day use if battery life is a big concern for you like it is me.

dell Inspirons known for poor battery life,
price is exciting and it is hard to find any discounts due to pandemic logistic issues.
normal times this laptop is not worth $400 let alone $800!

I have an acer with i5 and 57wh battery and get maybe 7 hours max. Its also an "evo" model like this one. It seems like most windows PC's have crap battery life, the only option for long battery life seems to be the LG gram but its $$$$

No it's definitely a good deal at $600 pandemic or not. For me there's too many compromises that just don't make it work. Trackpad is probably the biggest deal breaker. It's so annoying. But battery life for me is the straw that breaks the camels back.

I'm cool with 8 hours or so and it's advertised to have 10 hour battery life. I think having a 28 watt CPU in such a small form factor is a bad idea…and it does get a little too hot sometimes even when I'm not doing anything extreme with it.

I think it would be a better deal as a Ryzen or G7 laptop with the RAM, storage, display, and speakers. The package is pretty nice besides the bad touchpad, but an H series in something so small was probably a bad idea from the start, which I did worry about even before buying it (but I didn't see anyone comment specifically about that so I ignored that potential downfall).
