If you're making them in volumes - yes. But not for a regular Joe.

Monoprice 75 foot Cat6 cable $8.79. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product...UTF8&psc=1
I got this and works well. I would use it for permanent installation because locking mechanism is hard to disengage with my fingers. A spoon handle worked well at disconnecting the connector.

How easy to remove it with a spoon handle?Would a teenager be able to do it? The reviews about this problem sound really horrible, Like almost damaging the port, the black ones especially hard. What kind of speeds do you get?

Is this a good deal considering I've seen 10 packs for $9 on monoproce website? I understand that the timing is good for some people but I'm willing to wait.

I'm having a hard time imagining a scenario that makes sense where one has to plug and unplug a 75ft Ethernet cable all the time.

The flat head of spoon made very easy to push down on the locking mechanism. Whenever you remove a Ethernet cable, you use finger on the opposite side of the locking mechanism for support. When you do this, you're squeezing on the cable connection and not putting pressure on the port of the network hardware. I tested 1gb speed and it worked. I didn't test higher speed because I don't have equipment that is 2.5 gb+. I hope this helps you.

I did it once to test the cable, before a permanent installation behind a wall. But I disconnect Ethernet cable only when changing out equipment. WiFi has gotten so fast that there is no need to plug in an Ethernet cable and many portable don't even have a Ethernet port.

Back in the day MP used to make great cables on the cheap. Now they just make cheap cables on the cheap. They fail often and MP won't stand behind their own warranty. They don't outright deny it, but rather they just keep you going round and round for eternity. Send us photos, confirm your address, send us the same photos again, confirm your address again ... After 18 months of that between 2 cables that ultimately never got replaced, I gave up and just stopped buying their brand.

Ah, that makes perfect sense. I've done so many splice jobs that I completely forgot about in-wall couplers being a thing. laugh out loud

I agree about WiFi being so fast these days, though I still always make sure to use Ethernet (even on my phone via USB-C hub) when moving a considerable amount of data.

Needs vary and have to be looked at on a case by case basis. Ethernet cables are not needed by everyone, monoprice cables are good quality at a reasonable price when on sale, for those that need them.

For the average home user, Wifi is good enough. For a power user (aka prosumer) with file servers, app servers, multiple 4K streaming devices, and many security cameras then wifi is woefully inadequate. It's not just about the top speed of a single connection, it's the aggregate bandwidth of all the devices combined. Wifi is a shared medium, ethernet is not (if properly setup). That said, the average home user relies on cloud services for just about everything so the internet connection becomes the bottleneck, in which case wifi vs ethernet is moot.

The review said it's very difficult to unplug these

Fine. I'll be the one to say it....

The anti-snag boots SUCK! Compared to no boot, you have to press like a gorilla to unlatch the thing. And though I understand the purpose, I can't recall one time in my life I've had an ethernet cable get snagged any different than any cable would. Certainly never a time a said "Dang. Wish this tab was protected." It makes total sense on the surface, but is a solution a problem I've never had. I have, however, darn near ripped ethernet jacks out of their socket because I thought I was pushing on the boot hard enough and clearly was not.

Any reason not to get the Cat7 amazon basics that are cheap?
