Especially now that so many are working remotely unless you sit and work in the sun.
It's been mentioned in several articles to boost the immune system although my doc has specifically told me NOT to take more than 2000iu per day. While what you said is true it boils down to saving $0.60 a bottle and I prefer not to buy vitamins beyond a years worth at a time because they weaken as they age in most cases.

My Doc told me the same thing, causing more storage of calcium in the case of D, he put me on 2000 after my blood test was low. K counteracts that, but then may cause other issues that need more studies. I think many people believe they can eat bad foods and get all their requirements from pills, but that's ridiculously wrong, and not regulated
