The issue I have is that you are using an older article. The Fire 4k Max came out in 2021.

The person originally replied to asked about firestick 3rd generation, not the 4k max. There has not been a change to the 3rd generation firestick hardware since the release of the 4k max. The remote has been upgraded but that doesn't impact performance. The article referenced before was written when the 3rd generation was released.

The Fire TV Stick 4K Max gets a MediaTek MT8696 quad core processor clocking at 1.8GHz. Also Read: Apple Watch Series 7: Incremental upgrades or much more than that? There's 2GB RAM as well. In comparison, the Fire TV Stick 4K is powered by a 1.7GHz processor and has 1.5GB RAM.

MY ADVICE...

I love the fire stick, I really like how portable this is. I would definitely get the 4k MAX and I feel it is well worth the extra price. And of course the Cube is the fastest and the best of the bunch.

Yes but it has sold for less in the past.

IMHO... there are only two devices to consider. 1. Fire Stick 4K Max (this is what I have) or 2. the Cube.

I got my Fire Stick for $35 and the Cube has sold as cheap as $60. But these prices are good. Usually, when the cube sells for $75... that is considered excellent.

The Cube has a CPU about as powerful as the Shield but the Shield has a GPU that is like 15x more powerful. The 4K Max stick is as slow as you would want your TV to be.... again, this is IMHO.

Better off spending the extra 5 bucks on a Roku express 4k for 25 when they come on sale.

Ruku does not have the play store. You can not sideload apps (at least I don't think so).

AND the entire point of the FireStick is...... KODI.

If it wasn't for Kodi, I would agree with you.

Forget Fire Stick and Roku... They're crap compared to Onn Android puck.. it does all plus built in Chromecast! And no hacking or side-loading...

Yes... I do like the Onn Android puck as well.

BUT....
They all do Chromecast. And yah... no sideloading but really... I find it no big deal.

The Fire 4K Max is faster (not by much) but the price may not be worth it. I use to be a fan of the Mi box and the Onn Puck looks like it replaced it.

BUT BUT BUT... here are a few issues. No stock at Walmart but the current price use to be $30 and now it is $19.99. The kicker is Android TV does not have an app for Prime Video but these fire sticks all have Prime Video as part of it... so you will need to side load prime video.

But honestly, the Onn puck looks great... I also love the fact that you can attach a card reader to it.... wonder if you can do that with the Fire Stick.

Either way... spend $19.99 (if you find it in stock) or $35 for a Firestick 4K Max. Lastly, get the Cube if you want the best but don't need all the bells that the Shield TV provides.

I just got one of these for free, brand new.

I'm a long time roku stick user and this is my first firestick.

Personally, I'm very unimpressed with this firestick.
I wouldn't pay $20 for one.

What can I do with it that I cant my roku stick +?

My local walmart has had Onn 4k for $20 for months. I prefer Onn because you get the standard Android TV experience, instead of Fire TV. Hard to go wrong with either though at these prices, add a IPTV sub and/or RD to have access to literally everything for pennies a day...
