induction cooktop is perfect for hotpot indoor. I used for hotpot regularly. heat up fast and no worry of carbon dioxide. If you feel not heating up well, then it is your pots issue. Get a cheap pot from Asian market instead of 5 ply All-clad. Some of those expensive pots do not work well with induction. But the cheap stainless steel one always work so well.laugh out loud
Free shipping is only available when buying on best buy's ebay store. Not available when buying on bestbuy.com as the price is under $35 (34.99) and 1 cent under the free shipping threshold.
Bought it last time. Overall it's fine. Heats up my cast iron pans very fast. Useful to do bacon or steaks outside. Main negative is that it seems to really crank up and then ease off, even when set to max, so I switch to temp mode and back to get it to crank back up often. Also, maybe this is the same with all induction, but using a bigger pan is somewhat pointless since it's amazing how focused the heat generation is.

Just my personal experience, bought it a couple of years ago, use it often, no issues, no fancy features or anything but heats up fast enough for our needs. Hot pot works fine too, we just use a stainless steel pot though. Can't complain for $30.

Product is fine. Only problem is that this is a bit too tall ( compare to other machines ), which maybe an issue doing hot pot.

Be wary of induction cooktops that don't tell you the size of the induction element. The ring marked on the surface is almost always a good bit larger than the element itself, leaving you with a small hot spot (~4") on larger pans.

Quote from TimTam42 :
Most induction hob listings will have a size rating for their induction zone, (according to bb, this model is 8") you're better off using disc bottom cookware that will spread the heat out as it heats up if the zone is too small.
Not sure what an "induction zone" is, but the induction element is not 8". The manual says "You can use cookware with a diameter (at the base of the cookware) between
5.5 to 8.3 in. (14 to 21 cm)". To me that reads as the induction element is less than 5.5", as you'd want a pan/pot at least that large. Eight inches reference is just the largest size pan they recommend using, most likely.

Good for outdoor steak searing? Don't wanna stink the house up

I don't own this, but 1800W induction should be plenty of power. Use a heavy cast iron pan if you have one and let it get really hot. I sear them outside on a Blackstone for the same reason of not wanting the house to get smoky.

Is it a good idea to get the 2-Year Accidental Geek Squad Replacement for $9.99 ? Some reviews say that it stopped working after 15 days and they couldn't return it. Or just buy with Credit card that offer some extra warranty like the Citi Costco Visa ?
Pay 1/3rd the price for a warranty extension, are you crazy? Is $30 gonna cause financial ruin should it fail? Insurance is useful to protect from catastrophe (or adverse selection for people not wanting to change behavior), and is a waste of money outside of that.

I had this for 1 year. Heats real fast with 1800 W (normally do lv4 for searing and lv6 for boiling). Outdoor steak and indoor hotpot are both great, with either cast iron or stainless steel pans.

Also picked this up last time, it was $30 about 6 months ago. I love it, I use is mostly at my cabin where I don't have a stove or gas range, or to fry stuff outside. Admittedly finding pans that work well with it is difficult. Cast iron works ok, but not for larger pans. I end up using an anodized aluminum pan with a steel base made by All-Clad that works exceptionally well.

You could add this fancy coaster to get you to the $35 limit.

what type of extension cords are you using for this when outdoors? at 1800watts, I think this would burn through normal extension cords?

We got 2 of them about a 6 months ago and use both about 3 times a week, they're still working perfectly.

You're not supposed to use any kind of extension with these, only plugged straight into the wall. We use ours outside but we have a few outdoor outlets.
