Just sliding another 2x underneath the board your cutting does maybe most of what this tool is intended for? Or am I missing something useful, because this looks like a tool to prey on those who haven't worked around job sites
What a simple, yet brilliant tool! We rebuilt our wood dock and I can't tell you all the dumb ways we supported the wood, this would have been excellent. Thanks OP!

I've had one for a few years, and got it when I was rebuilding my deck. Great in theory, decent in execution. I usually ended up using the stack of lumber to support the board that I was cutting rather than slide this down past the cut.
I'm seriously asking how this is better than a 2x4 underneath the board.

Because seriously, a 2x4 turned perpendicular to give it clearance off the ground accomplishes the same goal

Might be nice for propping up some smaller love edge slabs?

Pros can do this stuff just using their legs, but for the rest of us this thing is amazing.
Or a far more versatile $10 saw horse.
There is a reason why these are on clearance.
