Just sliding another 2x underneath the board your cutting does maybe most of what this tool is intended for? Or am I missing something useful, because this looks like a tool to prey on those who haven't worked around job sites

I've had one for a few years, and got it when I was rebuilding my deck. Great in theory, decent in execution. I usually ended up using the stack of lumber to support the board that I was cutting rather than slide this down past the cut.

These things are great. I have a pipe one too, and for rough cuts it is a huge time saver.

Pros can do this stuff just using their legs, but for the rest of us this thing is amazing.
