I bought a cheap onikuma headset a year or so back and was pleasantly surprised with the quality and sound for about $12. My kid hasn't used it much, so there is very little wear and tear that I can comment on. I have used it for a few hours and its honestly a very good sounding pair of headphones. For $12 you wont be bummed if/when it breaks either.

Looks like the Amazon deal is gone, back to $36 on there.

Also the USB connector is only for the lights on the headset.

I also have a similar Onikuma from an amazon sale a couple of years back. People would complain about the mic in party chat. The sound on your end is nice though.
