If you have a Costco membership, it's available online. Two for $80, new. All day, everyday.

They were actually not available for at least 2 months before Christmas.
I knew it because when I wanted to buy them, only indoor one was available at Costco.
So, finally I bought the renewed from Amazon before Christmas.
Now indoor is not available at Costco.

The renewed from THIRD PARTY has been this price for many months or a year.

I bought it just a month ago from Tech Union (one of the sellers, same price), it came with brown box with official Philips Renewed Label on it, so it's manufacturer renewed, not seller refurbished. It looks new to me, just like another one I bought in retail box (open box)

First it's not a light (some reviewers thought it's a light).
It's more than just a motion sensor, it's also luminance sensor and temperature sensor.
It can be used to control Hue bulb or any Zigbee devices with capable zigbee hub.

Other than turning on lights under a certain lux value (rather than fixed time or sunrise/sunset settings) when anyone walk by my yards and driveway, using Hubitat, I also use them as motion sensors to send me alert if anyone pass by when I turn on the alarm mode and temperature sensor for real outdoor temperature. You can be creative to control anything with those 3 built-in sensors
(e.g. some people put the indoor one in fridge to use the light sensor to sense if the door is open and monitor the temperature)

Why not use the sunrise sunset plus 10-15mins automation? What Advantage do these provide over that? Just curious.

I think you're confusing cloud control vs local control with hub vs direct connection.
Either way, it is old school. I dont want to go and hit my hub everytime i try to setup something

That's not how hue works. You hit it once on setup. (and a second time of joining it to a home automation system.) You don't touch it to add bulbs, change scene, etc.

I was wondering if someone has to do this from scratch, would this be better in combination with outdoor light or just get "all in one" ring type flood lights which has everything built in and needs one power connection.
Any recommendations?

If that's the ONLY thing you're going to do, just doing the latter is easiest.

Using this in combination with other pieces gives you many more options. But that might not be what you're looking to do.

Renewed meaning they replaced some part of the device that wasn't working. Imo it's not worth saving $10 cause you'll never get it quite like it was fresh out of the factory
Am I suppose to take u seriously? Sorry, I couldn't resist. 😀. But to answer ur question I sometimes think an electronic product design has a flaw where one component has a high degree of failure and hopefully they replace that component that failed with a higher quality component that is less likely to fail. At least I hope that is the situation! 😀

Dont recommend this or anything that required a hub to run. Device should have its own wifi connection.
I'd *much* rather have a Hue Hub (which is a standard Zigbee hub) to handle home automation connections rather than flood my wifi network with light bulb connections. The Hue hub is then connected to your router so it functions just fine with a single connection rather than dozens or more.
