This is with bestbuy, so no bill credit involved, it's instant trade in value that deducts from the sale price, and tax is on the deducted selling price too. Don't mislead others.

ATT is $100 cheaper further. $500 for mini and $600 for regular. But trade in values are horrible.

T-Mo is still the best in value overall.

i don't know about you, but I had T-Mobile unlock my S21. So I can say it an unlocked model. They did it without hassle. So I then traded it in with ease.

S21 for a 13 mini worth it? Just trying to get highest trade in value for a 14 pro in the future
I did it, but the Mini don't hold value well.

The Minis typically don't get amazing value. Spend the extra and spring for the regular 13 if future trade
In value is important. No guarantee offers like this will be available with iPhone 14.

Having said all that. I farking love the 13 Mini and think it's the perfect size phone.

For those who did the trade in, did they take your fingerprints?

No but this depends on the state. Not a thing in New York.

Please let us know what happens if you go into the store for assistance. I am in the same boat as you with the persistent error messages.
They still couldn't do anything since it's my Tmobile account that was the issue, I had to go see/call Tmobile and they basically force me to get a line with them first before my account can be open again. Can't go through BB!

Had to show them the $20 unlimited talk and text plan at T-Mobile store, otherwise they did know such plan. $30 activation fee per line.
How soon after were you able to go thru the upgrade process on BB's website?

Good luck with unlocking+canceling the plan. T-mobile gave me no end of trouble when I took advantage of the previous trade in deal. Had to travel to three stores before I found an employee who knew how to unlock. They still messed up canceling the account. I got a letter from a collection agency and everything.
That's why you port the number out. No question it's canceled at that point.

Quote from klo1978 :
I have two phones where when attempting to unlock with an unactivated sim this weekend the portal throws an error. Both are now locked to AT&T. Do not use this method, something changed. This is after I did unlock 10 others successfully.
10? From the same IP, same information? You probably triggered some type of fraud system.
Quote from MonsterCaribou :
Jesus Christ could you please sound more farking condescending.

The phone is activated and the error is just generic

" Looks like the IMEI number you entered doesn't match an AT&T Device."

Phone shows as SIM Locked and no other sims work.

Get off your farking high horse. I literally just did it right now again. It does not work.
Quote from Jimmy4u :
You can try calling Apple and find out to which carrier the phone is locked to. Once you know the carrier then you can submit an unlock request to that carrier.
https://sickw.com/
Choose FREE - iPHONE CARRIER from the dropdown and put in the IMEI. It will tell you the locked carrier for free to confirm.

Hi! Just want to make sure I'm getting this right. I have an ATT iPhone 12 mini that I'm...kind of getting cucked over with on bill credits.

I have a tmobile account I can use for this purchase.
1. Purchase phone for pick-up at a BB store (looking at a iphone 13 256GB).
2. Get iphone 12 mini ready for trade-in (deactivate, backup, reset, etc.)
3. Do transaction, grab the iphone 13 hopefully unactivated
4. Slap the ATT sim from my current phone in the new one and it'll be locked to ATT (which is fine, that's my current carrier...), but that's all?

It's been a long time since I've done a carrier deal like this so there's a little nervousness there hahah!

Also, the line that I use from T-Mobile to get this purchase, does that line lose upgrade eligibility for a long time/etc. or could that person upgrade whenever afterward like normal?

The line can upgrade whenever you want. Doesn't matter.

All of your steps look correct. The line you use to upgrade won't lose upgrade eligibility. I've used the same line to upgrade multiple times since the iPhone XR deal popped up. And the same line is still eligible to do more upgrades. One thing I would suggest though: use the T-Mobile line to contact T-Force and request an unlock on Twitter. It usually goes through and you have a fully unlocked phone that you can take to another carrier in the future or resell for higher value. Worst case scenario they decline and you can still pop in your SIM card and it will be locked to AT&T.
