This is with bestbuy, so no bill credit involved, it's instant trade in value that deducts from the sale price, and tax is on the deducted selling price too. Don't mislead others.

ATT is $100 cheaper further. $500 for mini and $600 for regular. But trade in values are horrible.

T-Mo is still the best in value overall.

AT&T unlock portal has been up for years, and during that time there have been continuous complaints that it's not recognizing the IMEI. Just check the AT&T customer support forum.

Anyone with a fully paid off Best Buy iPhone that is locked to AT&T and the AT&T unlock portal isn't recognizing the IMEI, pm me the IMEI. I found potential solutions that I would like to try out.

I am using Cricket. So, if I am not seeking for unlock, can I put my Cricket SIM in it at very first time, if I am OK with the phone locked to AT&T? Thanks for any suggestions.
Cricket requires 6 months of service to unlock, so if you plan to stay with them that long it will be easy to unlock it from your customer interface on the site after ~176 days. You could also activate with an ATT SIM and use on Cricket, but not the reverse.

Yes, as long as the T-Mobile SIM wasn't in the phone and powered up when they were picked up. If they are sealed they will lock to first SIM carrier. Just make sure they are aware of any process their carrier might have regarding unlocking. If they can prove the phone was purchased without a contract or payment plan the FCC can get involved.
Are you saying before powering up the phone for the first time, remove the SIM card and then power on with no SIM in it, then the phone will become a fully un-locked phone?

No. The phone is not locked to anything until it is activated with something. Once it's activated with a SIM, it is locked to that carrier.

There is no physical SIM inside the sealed-box iPhone 13. In most Best Buy transactions they are taping a new SIM to the outside of the box. They scan this SIM during checkout but that doesn't seem to do anything to the TMo service. Ask the rep to let you open the box at home.

I'm curious as well. I went so far as to try to place the phone into the original state using a software download - it did not make any difference once the activation process allowed the phone to contact Apple "activation server" database. It was still locked to ATT despite the fact I was using a never-activated ATT SIM for testing.

Does anyone know if we wait for 40 days with T-mobile service/SIM in the phone, will the phone gets automatically unlocked or do we still have to call T-mobile or ping T-Mobile on twitter to get it unlocked.

FYI - I tried both your links, but that's the same website I previously already saw, which instructs you to log into your account. As noted, when I attempt to change SIM through my account, it sends me to a link to contact customer service.
I just realized when I actually tried going through with the swap. This is probably related to the recent data breach / SIM swap scam. T-Force is great and there isn't a long wait ATM.

I activated the new iPhone 13 using my old T-Mo SIM from the line that I upgraded. The activation went through fine and I am able to make calls. When I login to my T-Mo account, I see the new iPhone 13 with the IMEI number. However, when I call the T-Mo CSR, they say they do not see the new iPhone 13 on my account. They still see the old phone IMEI. Do you know why?

Do you think I should have used the new SIM taped to the box to activate the phone?

No worries - I just wanted to let you (and others) know that, at this time, there does not seem to be a way to activate/swap SIMs on your own.

I agree with your statement regarding T-Force. I contacted them this morning, and they were able to swap out two of our SIMs quickly.

When did that happen? In my experience I have yet to see a single iPhone unlocked in its own from T-Mobile. On top of need to call/contact them they also check for it to be fully paid off before they will agree to it.

A quick question (didn't get a chance to look 80 pages)

I am a existing T-mobile customer with Iphone 11
Are there any charges like activation and other charges by best buy ?
Am i paying just $199 + tax (trade in my iphone 11 and trade in value of $500).. right ?
And i can use my old sim with the new phone... right ?

Thanks

Locked by Cricket. Can be unlocked after ~176 days of active service via web account management.
