Note that M42 is excellent for drilling steel because it's very hard, but that hardness is a double-edged sword, as it also makes it easy to break with any lateral movement. I have these bits and usually only use them in a drill press.
This is also part of the $5 off $25 deal Amazon has going for Bosch bits, bring the total to 24.68 pre-tax.
I bought the Bosch 1/2in by 6in cobalt bit by itself early last year and that alone cost me $11.

This is indeed a good deal on cobalt bits.

It's funny, I've been watching these due to how well they did in the PF video, however I didn't order this set until I saw your comment about the extra $5 off. Didn't know that, and agree, that makes this a much better deal. Btw, after the heads up on the extra $5 off, I had to order a set for myself (even though I really do not need more drill bits, these are great for automotive work and drilling through steel).

Thanks for the heads up (I will adjust the OP) - and repped!

🤣 Read the negative reviews. It's basically a blacklist of "Who knows the least about tools." (The guy with the video of the walking bit Lol. That's a dingusvand a half right there.) And I'm not trying to hurt feelings... I mean, everyone needs to learn. It's not like these people, using the internet, have any easily accessible way to learn how to do things.

As far as the bits...

Its not a bad deal at all. Great starter set of bits. Its probably the better option for "Big Box" brand bits out there... just don't expect miracles. After all, tool manufacturers aren't known for their accessories. And @burntorangehorn is correct. It's best to be used in a drill press.

These are good bits. But do not put to much pressure on them as cobalt bits will chip/crack more easily.

Other than that they cut well if used properly.

Good deal, I've had a lot better experience with the Bosch Cobalt than the Dewalt cobalt bits.

Shows as $29.68, not $24

Oh, the -$5 must be getting applied at check-out?

Dewalt has a similar set on sale for comparison:

DEWALT Cobalt Drill Bit Set with Pilot Point, 14-Piece (DWA1240) [amazon.com]
$28.99 on Amazon

Doesn't have the 1/2 inch size and is M35 (vs M42 for the Bosch)--

1/16 - 2 of these
5/64
3/32
7/64
1/8 - 2 of these
9/64
5/32
3/16
7/32
1/4
5/16
3/8

So slightly different drill bit mix (but maybe better if you need the smaller sizes), but the M42 is a higher cobalt percentage and Bosch includes the 1/2 inch - and it's a better price. So thumbs up on this Bosch deal!

Personally, I just needed to read "Made in China." That said, decent bits for the money, but nothing to write home about.

The 1/8" and larger appear to be split point and 135 degree grind. The smaller bits (1/64" -7/64") are 118 degree grind and I don't believe they come with split point that are then more prone to walking on stainless, spring steel, etc. Mass produced, the grind is hit and miss that like with cheap chisels, will require some to be 'touched up.'

The reduced shank with the three flat sides on the larger bits is a weakness ---one or the other, but not both. Today, even the lowliest of hand drills come with a 1/2" chuck, so no reason for a reduced shank still manufactured from old machinery. Should the bit grab, you might want the bit to slip in the chuck or risk snapping the bit weakened by the reduced shank that is not going to slip with the flat sides. Oh well, when they do snap off, you will then have a full size shank that is then a bit shorter, but stronger. Smilie

This set, with DeWalt, were Project Farm's best rated drill bit multi pack [youtu.be]. He ranked it best for cutting through hardened steel - even over the DeWalt set. It was also the most expensive set he tested (it was $40 at the time he tested it in 2019). You don't see many discounts on these, but this is one of Amazon's lowest prices, ever, according to the Camel.

EDIT -- Thanks to PapaSpoof for the heads up re the $5 off $25 Amazon deal on Bosch bits (it pops up automatically in your cart during checkout - no coupon code or check box needed).
  • Cobalt M42 drill bit – provides upgraded M42 Cobalt jobber-length bits designed for durability, high heat resistance and Hardened surface for stainless steel, cast iron, titanium, light-gauge metal and aluminum
  • Enhanced M42 alloy material – contains 8% Cobalt alloy that delivers 10x life vs. Standard bits
  • High-heat resistant bits – withstand high-temperature applications for extended periods of time
  • Thick web-helix design – provides additional stability in tough applications
  • Surface-hardened tip – penetrates tough abrasive materials

ADD NOTE - Project Farm also rated this 7 pc Bosch Masonry bit set [amazon.com] one of its top 4 performing choices (see YouTube video here [youtu.be]). In the video he advises to buy which ever one is the best deal since they all performed so well. At $19.97, it's the lowest price of any of the top 4 masonry bits - and if you buy 2 sets, you can get 2 for $34.94 (about $17 a set).

Thanks OP and @papaspoof ! Picked up the masonry bits and some reciprocating saw blades for the $5 coupon.
