This drive is very bad. I purchased one for about the same price. The read/write speeds are terrible, crystalmark gives me realistic peak speeds of ~150MB write and my real world usage is closer to 100MB, This drive is slower than a spinning disk for data backup.

edit: for further reference, this drive is slower than my 10 year old Samsung 256GB SSD

Just buy a spinning disk drive for cheaper or pay a few bucks more for a better SSD

​The synthetic benchmarks don't tell the whole story. Get one of these drives, format it to a standard NTFS or similar file system and then start moving files around. It's about spinning disk speed and sometimes slower. Google for real world performance of the SSD PLUS series of drives and you'll see a lot of people saying the exact same thing.

apparently Sandisk's newest iterations of these drives are the slowest in the lineup as they made changes that severely impacted 4k read/write and 2mb random write speeds. Kind of a bait and switch.

Had this a few years ago. It was slow. Tbw is also low. I'd highly recommend spending $20 more for a better drive, it even buying a better drive locally used.

Junk drives had an older SanDisk with very minimal usage and it died. Stick with something more reliable.

That's a bummer. I've got a WD Blue 4TB (Sandisk Ultra equivalent) and it's the TLC/DRAM version iirc. Use it as a 'warm' media drive on HTPC type use, will copy at around 400 MB/s, typically 5GB to 20GB transfers moving stuff off my Optane OS / download drive.

I have 3 of these going back as far as 6 years (128GB, 256GB, and 512GB). They still all work flawlessly - not surprising since it's a WD brand (their BLUE SSD's are amongst the most praised).

the 2 TB version has DRAM and uses same controller as ULTRA. I've have and use this drive and the performance is pretty much the same as ULTRA
