Purchased 2 to test. I have the V2 that I used indoor and they seem to work fairly well. Mine arrive tomorrow so I will opt into the features that are name your price and see how they work out for me. Not sure how well my wifi will work on the outside of my house. .

Bought one last week and works great in the visual/detecting dept but in the audio department it has lots of room for improvement. The recordings sound like bees in a box.

Has anyone used this as an outdoor cam?
I have 3 of these from the Home Depot clearance deal setup outside my house for the last month so I can watch my dogs from inside. As long as you have an OK wifi signal and a source for USB power they seem to work really well even in the recent single degree temperatures and snow storms.

I have used plenty of Wyze CamV2s before for indoor purposes, but I was very pleasantly surprised by the quality of the CamV3 night vision even with the add-on spotlights not activated (the color night vision was so bright/crisp that I had to double-check that my outside floodlights weren't still on)

For those who just want the camera and not the spotlight, they arrive in different packaging so you can ship back the spotlight to Amazon and get a $10-$11 refund for it, making the price of the camera only around $24.
They let you return part of a bundle?

I'm skipping Wyze now, I don't really trust them to support these fully into the future. I am not looking to change security cameras often as they take features away.
True and I switched to Eufy with most on SD. But I did started using the old cameras again. So, that's where the drama is coming from.

What did wyze flake on?
They took away features when they started Cam subscriptions. And by that precedent, they can do so again.

Use local SD storage and it's unlimited. You know of any cam that gives you unlimited cloud storage for free?

There's been a few things over the past ~3 years. Most people were upset about the "person detection" feature that was promised, but when released required the Cam Plus subscription. After the community unloaded on them, they backtracked and made person detection "pay what you want" for some users who are now grandfathered in. Going forward, everyone will have to pay for a feature they swore would be free.

@xanekka may have some other beefs. There's been more than one flip flop from Wyze.

Even you have local SD installed, you still limited to 12s motion detected recording
Triggered "events" (motion, sound, door sensor, etc triggers) that is true. Those are automatically stored in the cloud for free. But you can ALWAYS go in and play back the entire video from the SD card all you want. I've been doing it for years. No cam gives you unlimited cloud storage for free.

Isn't all recordings "events?" So if you go into the SD card, what are you looking at that aren't events? Does it record 24/7 to the card? Even if you go in, aren't you just shown 12 second clips?

Motion detection, yes, but then you go to Playback @ that specific time, and you can see the entire footage.

Wyze is getting a bad name, because of whiney people. These cameras work fine for the price point, hell, better than some @ their price point.

Also, if you're using these as your main source, of security cameras...that's where you're going wrong. I use these for entrance ways, and to keep an eye on my dogs when home alone.

No, it is always recording to SD card. It can record as much footage, as your SD card can handle, then starts to delete old footage.
