If anyone is on the fence about buying it, starting February 12th you will no longer get free 12 second recording to the their cloud unless you pay for it. If you buy before then, you can opt in for free with any Wyze camera you have.

As long as I opt in to Cam Plus Lite before 2/12/22 with my Wyze account I can add future cams to my registered email to use the 12 sec cloud recording and person detection features?
If I were you, I'd just suck it up and get another Nest cam, since you're already paying for unlimited Nest aware plan, take advantage of it. I'm still on the old plan and don't have unlimited so I cheaped out and bought this.
Yea I'm thinking about that. I'm also considering changing from Nest Doorbell to Waze doorbell if these work well. I should be able to access these cams from the Google Home app, so that's the main integration I want.
And doorbell + three cams is still about the same price as one Nest Cam. Plus the monthly fee for Nest aware and CamPlus is similar. Lots to consider!
Whining about ongoing services, that you don't THINK you should pay for, with a budget camera, is insane.
I'm all for Wyze charging whatever they want for cloud service. But if they gimp the camera in order to pressure you into the cloud service, then I'm for sure going to complain about it. RTSP is easy, and should be FULLY functional. So is a local webserver for commissioning the camera onto your network. They force you to pay for the camera but rely on them / give them app information in order to use the hardware that you purchase, even if your use doesn't rely on their cloud service.
Yes, other companies do that too. And I'll whine about those other companies too. I'm an equal opportunity whiner, bringing good points about poor company policies. If you're happy with the limitations, good for you. The rest of us are just more sophisticated.

Or you can buy the office wyze one but it won't ship until March. It can turn your bulb into a smart bulb. But note, it won't work with the spotlight too.

I bought both to try.
Dead to me. Now showing $51.

We don't often realize it, but most of our devices today are just bricks if the companies behind them decide to turn off their cloud services. We're basically paying for a ticket to shop in their mall. The free stuff they provide could vanish at any moment. Most customers can't handle or don't want to deal with stand alone device configuration though (Eg. Older IP Cams), that is why we are were we are with all of this.
WYZE has not handled their issues gracefully. But existing customers they've been transparent about it. Essentially they undercut themselves trying to disrupt the market and can't provide the same level of support as others. I assume COVID supply china supply chain has also hurt their hardware costs lately. I consider them a forever Kickstarter here to disrupt. Perhaps why others are dropping to compete.
That said, seems like many of you think eufy is the main competition here, but no one has spelled it out plainly. From a guy who doesn't have time to research thoroughly what are the best cost/feature alternatives currently?
