Marriott status is not that valuable. My last stay as a Titanium, I had to fight to get a room with a nice view. Didn't even bother asking for a suite, even though the program states I should be eligible for one. Marriott has repeatedly stated they want to take care of hotels, not members.

I was the last one in my company to stick it out with Marriott, but everyone has switched to Hilton because their rewards program is much better.

Yes, it is a promotion for everyone through 5/4/22. The catch is, it doesn't apply to existing reservations - so you'd need to rebook (at today's rates) any existing reservation to benefit from this.

basically each paid stay gets 1000 extra points and 2 stay credits per night instead of one.

no bonus for any points/cash and points reservations.

Dang it...have existing trip to Maui for a week in Feb. Rebooking increases the total price by $500. Not sure if that's worth it.

I typically read tripadvisor reviews before choosing my hotels. It seems like everytime I read Marriott hotel reviews, high elite members like yourself complain of this same thing. It use to not be that way, so this is very alarming to hear. Even late checkout is becoming harder and harder to get and certainly not for more than 1-2 hours extended max. Gold Elite use to get you lounge access, but they took that away.

The terms of this promo just show how terrible their program is. Why should it matter when you actually booked your hotel? It should only matter when you actually stay at the hotel. To make you cancel and rebook would be just silly.
This annoyed me a little since I made a bunch of reservations one day before the promotion. I went in today to try to cancel/rebook but all my associate rates went up. To bad for me but I understand since the point of the promotion is to get new business.

Are we sure about that? I've read the terms a few times, maybe I'm just missing it. It says, "Stays completed prior to registration are not eligible to earn bonus points or bonus Elite Night Credits with this promotion. Members must register here before April 20, 2022." I read that as STAYS (not booking) prior to registration are not eligible.

There is no need to rebook it. If your stay is a paid stay (which is sounds like it is) and during the promo period (Feb 8th to May 4th), then you are good to go. No reason to cancel and rebook. Not sure why some interpreted it that way.

FYI, you can do this from Bonvoy app on your phone. Go to "Account" and then you'll see Promotions. Once I opened Promotions it was right there with a Register button.

Signed up then rebooked an existing reservation... and it came out $50 cheaper. WIN-WIN!

I'm still not seeing that...

"Stays completed prior to registration are not eligible to earn bonus points or bonus Elite Night Credits with this promotion. Members must register here before April 20, 2022."

All I see are stays completed prior to registration, not stays booked. Can you please point me to where you're seeing that?

I'm a platinum member, but when I clicked the link but it says I am not eligible for the promotion
I'm also a Platinum Elite member and was able to register through the Bonvoy app.

Yes, they apparently redid their program. I'm not one to read all the fine print but when I book, there's a place where you can request a room upgrade. However, you are only allowed up to 5 per year. It's a catch-22 to me. I finally got an upgrade as I was never able to do so before.

Wow after not traveling for work as much I didn't realize they redid their program. Now I definitely won't be trying to keep my status if all the benefits are watered down now

I don't think they officially changed the program. They are just advertising benefits but allowing hotels to ignore them. Like say "get to Platinum, we'll give you suite upgrades", then when you try to get an upgrade you either can't apply your suite certificate as the property doesn't accept them or the property doesn't give you a complimentary upgrade even though suites are available, claiming only "one level of upgrade" is permitted (there's nothing about "one level upgrade" in Marriott Bonvoy T&C).

I travel through work, and although Hyatt's loyalty program is far better, my company prefers Marriott and I'm platinum with them so this is a nice promo for me. Thanks OP.

just register today and come back to book in 2 weeks. do not book today.
Are you sure?

"Registration of your Marriott Bonvoy® account is required. Marriott Bonvoy members who register for this promotion by April 20, 2022, will earn 1,000 bonus Points per eligible paid night, plus one bonus Elite Night Credit per eligible paid night, during the 85-night promotion earning period. I read this as, register whenever, even up until the end date, earn the reward on reservations made after registration, and only nights paid after 2/8 apply. I don't read anywhere that you have to MAKE reservations after 2/8.
