Excellent savings plan. Have you ever considered however that the cash saved is losing a lot of buying power over those many years. You could buy bonds or a savings vehicle of some kind, if the money isn't being touched anyhow, would save more then the pittance the banks pay.
It's better than not saving.
Although had that money been put into voo or another S&P 500 etf, it would have returned roughly ~120% in the last 7 years adjusted for inflation. Imagine what it can do given another 5+ years? 10? 20?
Edit; I understand not everyone is comfortable putting their money into the biggest casino on Earth aka The Stock Market.

Can you apply for option access with the teen account? If so, how old was your teen and what did you/he answer for the experience questions? I am guessing that it is only level 2 and no margin possible. Correct?
Thanks!
I opened two accounts, one each for my two teenagers and they both received the $50 bonus. Each account was opened under my account so it looks like you can open as many accounts as you'd like provided you have children in the proper age brackets.
