Yeah, looks like it is for a softsided cooler by looping into it. On a hard cooler, the rigidity would be enough to give you proper leverage to open a bottle. On a softsided, you're just better off hanging a normal keychain opener off it, because the soft sides will flex when you try to open it, and things are bound to get messy and frustrating.

Here's what I do. I grab a retractable keychain thing, clip it somewhere on the cooler, and then attach my bottle opener instead of the keychain. That allows me to grab it, stand up, open my bottle, and then let it retract. Better than sitting there hunched over the cooler trying to get the proper angle, or trying to pickup the cooler to do it. If you have a really light weight cooler and your bottle opener has some sharp edges, just be careful letting it fling back towards the cooler too crazily.

Have one and it's not great, the soft cooler flexes as you try to open. The better opener for use with molle webbing is the one the call the zinger.
