Love Bryson. Was curious about the 1 star reviews and most of them seem to be religious people upset about evolution.
For example:
So you can simply dismiss those.
Seems like yet another great book by him. I'll be picking it up, esp at this price.
A Short History of Nearly Everything is an amazing book!
The audiobook (read by the author himself!) was great. But like all or most ebook deals, I have to point out that it's also available at the library (or inter-library loan, at the very least).

As Bill Bryson writes, "We pass our existence within this wobble of flesh and yet take it almost entirely for granted." The Body will cure that indifference with generous doses of wondrous, compulsively readable facts and information. As addictive as it is comprehensive, this is Bryson at his very best, a must-read owner's manual for every body.
The section viruses is amazing, particularly in light of our current knowledge of COVID-19. Real eye-opener there. Really enjoyed this book, Bryson is amazing.

I have strong interest in all things medical and bio mechanical. In addition to that, this book seemed quite highly rated based on initial reviews and at that quite factual. But it's not factual. It is anecdotal, with several interesting facts thrown in for good measure. Don't get me wrong, the book is interesting and where it is factual, it is amazing. However, the author speaks of several theories as if they were fact, but fails to call them out as theories. One of these theories, which is referenced a lot, is the theory of evolution, which in the book is represented as truth, when in fact it has never been proven. Many species, including humans, have adapted to their surroundings, but humans have not evolved from 1 species to another. This is guess work at best and has never been proven. Stop claiming this as fact. Very disappointing in an otherwise interesting read.

Didn't buy this on sale at BAM a couple weeks ago because I already have too many books on my to-read list. At least this copy won't get (literally) dusty. Thanks!

Also Me: "Oh, look. I already bought this in April of 2021. Guess I should, like, read it or something."
His book "In A Sunburned Country" was very funny and informative. I read it right before we moved to Sydney.(from Florida) back in the mid-2000s..
"Big bad Bill think we all swang thru the trees in the past. I toss the book out - right there."
Keep on swangin' playa'.
